Fall’s Story
By Sara Dillon
Ch.1
As Luke entered the dark cantina it reminded him of the first time he meet his now brother-in-law Han Solo and his Wookiee companion Chewbacca on Tatoonie.
He chose a booth near something that looked like a stage. He wondered where the band was along with numerous other things. He was shook out of his thoughts by a hand on his shoulder. He turned to find an older looking woman standing near him with a pad of paper and pen.
"Whadda ya want stranger?" Her voice nearly knocked Luke out of his seat. It was high pitched and sounded like a mynock fight.
"Um. How about some Correlian ale?" he answered.
"Sure," she said as she wrote it on the pad, "be right back." She turned and headed back to the bar.
Within a few minutes she returned with the drink. Luke accepted it but did not drink. He hated drinking. After fooling with the rim of the glass he felt something in the Force. Another Force user was here! This was unexpected!
Just as soon as it appeared the feeling vanished. Luke wondered what had happened.
He didn have time to pursue the feeling because just then the whole cantina fell silent as if they were on a switch and it had been turned off. After a few moments the lights went out and a spotlight turned on and shone on the stage. Luke was beginning to get nervous. Then a stringed instrument stared to play somewhere and Luke decided this was the entertainment. He relaxed a little.
All of the sudden a gorgeous woman appeared through the curtain. She was tall, blonde, and had legs that could kill.
As she started to sing Luke found himself drifting away on her words. He didn know why but he wanted to hold her, caress her, just be with her. This was not his normal way of thinking. Luke couldn tell if it was the Force or just her beauty that enticed such thought but he didn care right now. All he wanted to do was listen.
As the song came to a close no one in the whole bar spoke for what seemed like years. All of the sudden someone from behind Luke started to clap as the woman bowed to the crowd. Then the wave hit him. He had to talk to this girl somehow. As she disappeared behind the curtain he followed her.
He struggled to keep up with her pace. She was quick. Just then she turned to face Luke, blaster in hand.
"Who are you?" she demanded. He regular voice was as sweet as her singing voice.
"I... I...," Luke stammered as if he had forgotten his name, "I Luke Skywalker. I heard you out there," he pointed to where they had entered.
"Your point!?" she asked rather unheartingly.
"Oh. Um. Before you came on I felt a something oh wait wrong way to start!"
She turned and started to walk away. Luke remembered that she might have the Force. He had forgotten while she was singing.
"Wait!" he yelled after her.
She turned and waited with her hands on her hips as he approached.
"Well? I waiting," she said coolly.
"We got off to a bad start. Listen have you heard of a thing called the Force?" Luke asked with his hopes dying with every word he uttered.
"Yes."
"Well I think you um might have the ability to um touch the Force." He stammered on every word as he looked in her eyes. They were the deepest blue he ever seen.
She turned and Luke thought she was going to leave. "I know," was her reply. All she did was stand there looking at the wall. When Luke moved closer to ask her more questions she punched him in the face. Luke stumbled back into the facing fall.
"Hey what was that for?" he asked holding his face where she had hit him.
"That was for making me relive all those bad memories!" She cursed under her breath.
"What do you mean? I didn
She cut him off with another slug. This time to his stomach.
"Did you ever stop to think that maybe, just maybe, people hate having the ability to touch the Force?" she demanded.
"Well yes." That was all he could say. Luke was reminded of the time, so long ago, on the second Death Star, when he had to fight his father Darth Vader. The Emperor had tried to turn him to the Dark Side of the Force. He had failed and been defeated. Unfortunately that was not before he had shocked Luke to near death with the dark side lightning. Yes Luke agreed with her. Having the ability he did some times got him in trouble but most of the time it helped in though situations. "Hey listen. I know what you mean. Its not just the Dark side that has problems." He wasn about to tell his life story to a complete stranger.
"Listen you e probably wandering why I hit you," she told him. She still stood facing the wall.
"Well ya. I am," he replied.
"Come on. Follow me. I l tell you in my room."
AS Luke followed the woman down the hall he was beginning to come out of the trance her song had put him in. "SO what your name?" ha asked hoping he get an answer.
Its Falloo or Fall for short," she answered without turning back.
When Falloo stopped in front of her door a roid approached from the opposite side of her.
"Who are you?" it asked in its tinny voice.
"Its me 6D, Fall," she answered.
"Oh sorry madam," the roid replied.
"Its ok 6D. Come on," she reassured the roid.
As soon as Luke stepped into the room he was taken aback. Her room was huge. He wondered where the room was located in contrast to the cantina.
"My room is under the cantina," she told him as if Luke had asked out loud.
"Wow. Its beautiful!" ha exclaimed.
"Well I do what I can," she said as she crossed to the other side. She sat down on her bed and took off the spike heels that went with her dress. "So Luke, why are you here?"
"Hua?" he didn here what she had said. He was examining a painting that hung near the doorway.
"I asked why you were here?" she repeated.
"Oh. I can tell you. Top secret," he said his trailing off.
She moved to her closet and took out a robe. "I l be back," she said.
"Ok." Luke walked to a chair and sat down. He looked around the room. It was a large suite. On the far wall there was a huge mural. Near Luke there door that that led to the kitchen. Parallel from the door was the door to the refresher unit where Falloo was. After a few minutes she emerged with her dress in her hands. She wore a soft blue robe that fell about mid-thigh.
"So about this Force thing. How do you know I have it?" Falloo asked as she sat on her bed.
"Well. I guess I felt you through the Force before you came on stage. I didn know it was you until you were finished singing. Oh by the way. Your voice is lovely," Luke said.
"I see. So you e the mighty Luke Skywalker? Not much are you? What are you doing on a backwater planet in a sleazy cantina?"
Luke just stared at her. Her insult sunk in and he quickly dismissed it. "Like I said before I can tell you but I can tell you about why I here in the cantina. The truth is I don know. It just looked different. That all. I was about to leave when you came on," Luke answered her question with ease. He had planned on what he would say if he were interrogated.
"Different? What do you mean?" Fall asked. She was brushing her hair on the bed. It had been hanging down in her face but was now pulled up in a braid.
"I guess it reminded me of Mos Eisley on Tatoonie," he told her.
"Oh."
"So why are you here, Fall?" Luke asked her.
"It a job. I really don want to go anyplace else. I like it here," she replied.
"But there are so many other, more respectable, jobs on better planets. Why don you have one of those jobs?" he asked.
"I don know. Do you have a place to stay? I have an extra room," Fall offered.
"I guess I do now. Let me go back to my ship and get some things. I have to tell my droid where I am so he won get worried," Luke said.
"Fine. If you want the droid can stay here," she told him.
"Ok," Luke agreed and left.
Later in her suite Fall sat at her desk with a holo message playing.
"Madam. We the people of Garten beg you to come home. With the death of your family we are left without a leader. Please consider coming back home. Thank you." With that said Fall put the holo message in the drawer. She would not return to rule Garten. They could not make her.
Just then the door opened and Luke entered with R2D2 in tow.
"I take it that your droid," Fall observed.
"Yeah. Fall this is R2D2. R2 this is Fall. She's the one I was telling you about," Luke said.
"Nice to meet you, R2D2. Come on Luke I l show you your room," she replied. She started towards the wall.
"Um I hate to ask but there's no door," Luke said.
"I know. There is a room behind the wall. The door is hidden. Only I know about it. Its incase someone tries to attack. I can hide in there. There's a refreshing unit and everything. You can get out by hitting the button in the door inside," she told him as she typed a code into the pad that had popped out of the wall.
"Here you go," she gestured inside.
Luke looked around. It was like the outside only smaller.
"Thanks. R2 come here," Luke called.
"Well I l see you in the morning. Good night Jedi," Fall said.
When Luke woke it was near noon. He left his room and found that he was alone. R2 was in the kitchen making some breakfast when Luke walked in.
"Morning R2. Where is Fall?" Luke asked stretching.
R2 beeped and told Luke where Fall had went.
"You mean she has to perform in the morning? Gees the owner keeps her on a tight schedule," Luke commented.
Luke sat at the table and R2 served him some breakfast. It didn look too appetizing but he ate it any way.
After he had finished Luke went and sat at her desk. He started to look in the drawers for something. Her found the usual stuff you would find but in one of them he found around 10 or 20 holo messages. He decided to get them out and play them.
They were from planet called Garten. All of them were asking someone to come home. He wondered if they meant for Fall. They said that the girl name was Nuri. He wondered whom they were talking about. Certainly it wasn Fall they were after. It shouldn be. Fall doesn seem. Then it hit him. Like the night before when he realized that Fall was the other Force user he knew that Fall was not Fall. She was Nuri. The ruler of Garten.
He couldn believe it. Well actually he could. Fall or whoever she was, was the leader of a planet. That why she tried to attack me he thought. She must be scared I would kidnap her and take her back.
As soon as Luke put the messages away he went up to the cantina. He took a seat near the stage again and waited. After 30 minutes or so the stringed instrument started playing again. This time when Fall or Nuri of whoever started to sing he knew what to expect. Luckily the trance she put him in wasn as sever as it had been the night before.
As soon as the song was over Luke snuck backstage and raced to the suite. He beat Fall and was sitting in a chair reading by the time Fall returned.
"Ah. Good morning. Did you sleep well?" Fall asked as soon as she saw Luke was awake.
"Yes. Thank you. So where were you? I woke up and you were gone," Luke questioned her.
"Don you know? I was in the cantina, performing," she replied.
"Oh. I guess that makes sense. So what are you doing for the rest of the day?" Luke asked.
"Why?" Fall shot back with a questioning tone in her voice.
"Well if I going to stay here while my ship is repaired I guess I need a guide," he explained.
"You expect me to show you around don you? Well I l go ask my boss. We have other girls that would love to sing. I sure he will let me go," Fall answered as she tugged on a comfortable flight suit.
After she left R2 returned from the ship the New Republic had issued Luke for his trip.
"R2 how are the repairs coming along?" Luke asked as soon as he saw the droid roll in.
R2 warbled off a long series of beeps telling Luke that the repairs would be done by the end of the week.
"End of the week?" Luke echoed. "I wonder if that will be enough time to convince Fall to come with me," Luke asked no one in particular even though he knew the answer.
It would not be enough time. If she was to go back to Courscant she would have to change her whole identity so her former life, the life of Nuri that she wanted to put behind her, would be lost.
Just then Fall entered and crossed to her closet and started to pull out her clothes.
"What wrong? Did you get the day off?" Luke asked.
"Yes. I got my life off. They are here. They are looking for me. I have to go now! Can you take me away from here?" Fall said. She was talking so fast Luke could hardly keep up.
"Um. Sure. R2 is the hyperdrive fixed?" Luke asked the droid that was now running around like a little lost bantha cub. He answered Luke with a positive sound.
"Ok. Then we will have to go now. Are you ready, Fall?" ha asked.
"Yes I ready. Lets go," Fall answered as she headed out the door and ran to the landing field.
At the landing field Luke found his ship and boarded with Fall at his heels.
"R2 lets get going!" he said as he headed up to the cockpit.
Fall followed and sat right behind Luke.
"Strap yourself in Fall it looks like we have company. R2 plug in the coordinates for Courscant," Luke ordered.
He was right. There were two ships coming in to try to ward off Luke escape.
"Ok. Jumping to hyperspace on my mark now!" Luke said.
Chapter 2
On the bridge of the Victory Class Star Destroyer business carried on as usual. It had been 15 years since the Oldine had fought in the battle of Endor. Captain Valvin was standing on the bridge on that fateful day and was still there. During the rein of Grand Admiral Thrawn the Oldine had chose to stay neutral. Valvin didn want to get involved. He had always hated Thrawn.
Even though he knew it was wrong, his crew was tiered of floating around. Against his will he was forced to join the New Republic.
Now he and his crew were stationed above the jungle moon of Yavin 4. He despised protecting Luke Skywalker Jedi Academy but he knew he could not rebel because he would be beaten. No it was in his best interest to just sit back and relax. No one had tried to attack the academy, yet. He had concluded that he was just lucky.
As soon as the ship ad completed its shut down cycle Luke and Fall exited the ship with R2 in tow. This trip to Courscant was unexpected and not even Leia knew about it. But even though no one knew there was See Three PO waiting for Luke and his guest.
"Master Luke this is a welcomed surprise. I am sorry Mistress Leia could not greet you but she has worries of her own," 3PO said as soon as Luke and Fall were close enough.
"That ok 3PO. 3PO this is Fall. Fall, this is C3PO," Luke introduced the two strangers.
"Nice to meet you Fall," 3PO replied.
" Same here. Luke can we go into the palace or not. I getting kind of scared standing out here," Fall asked.
"Sure. I sure Leia will be out of her meeting soon. Then we can eat if you don mind?" Luke said.
"Oh I would love to meet Leia Organa Solo. If it wouldn be to much trouble?" Fall asked like a small child.
"No its not. Hey maybe Han and Chewie are here. Oh you might get to meet the whole Solo family at once. 3PO are the twins and Anakin awake?" Luke questioned.
"Yes Master Luke. They are waiting with Winter in the nursery for you," 3PO replied.
"Great. Come on Fall. I l show you to a room. This way," Luke said.
With that the small party headed in the direction of the Imperial Palace.
Later that might Fall sat alone in the room Leia had picked for her to stay in. She reached into one the packs she had and pulled out a small holo-message. She placed it on the bed next to her and turned it on.
"Princess Nuri, the people of your planet would like to invite you to return here. I do realize that we the people have asked you many times but our planet will soon be under attack. Help us Nuri. We are begging you."
With that the message ended. Her planet knew the answer. She would never return to the planet. Never.
The next morning Fall woke and started to work. If she was going to "disappear" from the universe again it was going to take a lot of work.
As soon as she was dressed Fall snuck out her door and headed toward the building where the government held all the records of birth.
When she arrived she proceeded to the hall where they kept the people her age. The alien races were held in separate rooms depending on the species.
After she found her file she immediately started to work. This was going to take a lot of time. She had to delete all her files and then come up with a new identity. The deleting wasn hard but the new identity thing was extremely hard. She just wasn creative.
After fifteen minutes of deleting the fun part came.
Who would she be now?
She had to think about it.
She didn have time to think. As soon as she had decided on her new identity guards stormed the room.
"Who are you?" the leader asked.
"I um," she answered.
Great going. Now they aren going to blast you. Nice excuse! She told herself.
"Get up. You e coming with us," the guard said.
Fall rose to her feet trying not to look the man in his eyes. It didn work.
He grabbed her and led her toward the palace.
"You will have to answer to the Chief-of-State. She is not as nice as I am."
Yeah I bet! Fall thought.
"Mistress Organa-Solo, someone is here to see you."
"Let them in." Leia motioned with one hand a turned the page of the book she was reading with the other. She looked up at the small party that had entered her personal chamber and who were now standing in the doorway quietly. She closed the book and sighed.
"Yes what is it now?"
"So sorry to bother you Chief Organa-Solo but I caught this woman snooping in the personal birth records. I though you might like to deal with her yourself."
Leia nodded wearily. "Thank you. Let her go. I l talk to her in private. You may leave now. Go back to your post and do... whatever you do." Leia said shaking her head at the utter silliness of the whole thing.
The guard released Fall and nodded swiftly to Leia, then turned and left the room. Leia motioned with her hand toward a seat. "Pull it closer if you like," she said.
Fall walked over and grabbed the plush chair and drug it closer to Leia. Leia sighed again and started. "So the guard said that you were snooping the birth records. I guess you have a good reason for this?"
"Yes I do!"
Leia smiled and motioned for he to continue.
"My name is Fall. I am from well that not important. I was in the birth records to get rid of an un-needed file that I came across."
"An un-needed file?" Leia asked.
"Actually I was to meet you today. Your brother said he would introduce us but I guess I beat him to it!"
"I guess so. Excuse me for a moment." Leia stood and crossed to the far side of the room. She was just out of Fall hearing range when she contacted someone. She returned and sat down slowly in her chair.
"Are you hungry?" Leia asked Fall.
"No thank you."
Leia nodded and sat back in the chair and started in on her book again.
Fall, getting flustered and unable to do her work, frowned at Leia. "Are you not going to do anything more?"
"Oh I not. I called someone who can do something more than I can. They should be here any second. Just be patient."
Fall frowned again and sat back in her chair.
After a few moments the door opened quietly and Fall turned around in her chair and found Luke Skywalker standing there. "Leia you said you had someone oh hi Fall. Guess you met my sister already."
Fall smiled. "Yes I did."
Leia looked up from her book and smiled at her brother. "Luke. I glad you could make it. Now if you would explain to me why I caught you friend here in the birth records."
"Oh sure Leia. See Fall here is the princess of Garten. She is in hiding for some reason. The people who are looking for her found her in the cantina I met her in and I brought her here. I thought she could change her files and then she be safe again, for a while."
Leia nodded in understanding. "Why do want to run? Being a princess isn so bad."
"Being a princess of Garten is no picnic! There are too much danger she has to face each day. I counted at least 2 or 3 one day. I can do that. I had other things I wanted to do with my life. Anyway if they find me they l either kill me or torture me for leaving. No one leaves Garten without punishment. Major punishment!"
Leia face turned solemn. "I understand. I l help you change the files. Come with me." Leia stood and crossed to the door. Luke took Fall hand and followed his sister to the birth records hall.
Well it was done. With Leia Organa-Solo help Fall was no longer Fall. She was Aldredian, a regular woman from Alderaan. She grew up there and was off planet traveling with a dance company at the time of the Death Star attack. Her whole history was built up and with no living relatives to speak of she was safe.
"So Fall, I mean Aldredian, what are you going to do now?"
"I guess I l find a dance company here on Coruscant, join it, and dance for the rest of my life."
"Sounds like a plan to me," Leia said smiling.
"Thank you both for your help. I really appreciate it!"
"Your welcome Aldredian. I glad I could help. Now if you will excuse me I have a meeting to get ready for," Leia replied.
Luke nodded and hugged his sister. Aldredian offered a smile and nodded. Leia turned and walked back to the turbo-lift.
Luke, seeing that his sister was gone, took Aldredian hand and lead her to a near by bench. He drug her down to sit next to her. "I guess this means you have to leave me."
"You didn think I would stay here did you?"
"Oh no! Of course not!"
Aldredian laughed and kissed Luke deeply suprizing the Jedi Master. "Its been nice knowing you. Look for me ok? Maybe one day we l meet again."
"Yeah. Maybe."
Aldredian kissed Luke once more and walked to the small ship Leia had provided her with. She turned to wave at Luke. Luke returned the wave and smiled to himself. <Yeah maybe we will meet again.> he thought.
Aldredian bowed her head and climbed into the ship. After a few moments the engines powered up and Aldredian, formerly known as Fall, the exotic singer/dancer Luke had meet only a few short days before, flew out of the hanger and into the tinged air of Coruscant and into her new life.
