Cockatiels (Nymphicus Hollandicus) originate from Australia. They average 10 to 12 inches in length and weigh around 90 grams.  Tiels can live 15 to 25 years with proper care.
They should be fed a variety of dry and cooked foods which include seeds, pellets, veggies, egg foods, dried fruits, grains, bean & rice mix, pastas, millet and birdie bread.
Cockatiels are wonderful when it comes down to personality.  They are very gentle social birds.  They love being on you and just hanging out.  Males are really vocal and can talk if worked with.  Female tiels in general are more quiet and laid back but are also known to talk on occasions.  Tiels are loved for their really sweet nature and the fact that they aren't too demanding like bigger cockatoos.
