Budgerigars (Melopisstacus Undulatus) originate from Australia. They measure 7 inches in length and weigh about 25 grams with the English Being up to 60 grams. Budgerigars can live anywhere from 7 to 15 years with proper care. Budgies are also sexually dimorphic, Meaning you can tell the gender by the color of their cere. Females will have a brown cere and males have a blue cere which appears when they are around 5 to 6 months of age. They should be fed a variety of dry and cooked foods which include seeds, pellets, veggies, egg foods, dried fruits, grains, bean & rice mix, pastas, millet and birdie bread. Budgerigars make great pets. They are playful and fun. All my baby budgerigars are handfed and extra tame. Many people under estimate them as pets but like many other species they can be capable of being a great companion. They are really social birds so they love being with people. They arent the greatest talkers but a few have been known to speak. They have great personalities and are always on the move. Im happy to announce we are now currently breeding American & English Budgerigars. So keep checking our Availability page for updates. To see my current Budgerigar availability click here. |
