MANICOTTI-CHEESE BAKE
(Ok, so maybe with the cheddar cheese, it isn't traditional, but it's really good.)
1 lb. ground beef � C. onion, minced � C. green pepper, chopped 2/3 C. tomato paste 1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce 2 C. water 1� tsp. salt � tsp. pepper 1 tsp. sugar 1� tsp. Italian seasoning 8-9 manicotti shells 2 C. cheddar cheese 1 C. (4 oz.) shredded Mozzarella cheese
Saut� meat, onion, and green pepper. Drain off fat. Add tomato paste, tomato sauce, water, salt, pepper, sugar, and seasoning. Simmer 15 minutes.
Parboil manicotti in salted water no more than 4 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
Fill shells with combined cheddar and Mozzarella. Place shells in shallow baking dish. Cover with sauce. Bake in oven at 350 F., for 30 minutes. |
