| The Middletown Grange Fair, is a county fair in which there are many different events and activites. There is venders, games and rides. Our clubs favorite part of course is the Rabbit Show. On Wednesday morning there is a Rabbit Show, in which each member gets the chance to show their animal and win trophies and ribbons. The 4-H members are welcome to spend the night there. The sleepover is a truly enjoyable experience in which there is games, snacks, movies and much, much more! It is also a pleasurable experience to meet other 4-H'rs in other rabbit clubs and in sheep, goat, horse and dairy clubs as well! You must meet all the club guidelines to show an animal at the grange fair! It is really a geniuine experience that is something you don't want to miss! | ||||||
| The grange fair is an EXTREMELY stressful time for your rabbits and cavies. You are REQUIRED to be there most of each day to care for your rabbits. They must be supplied with adequate amouts of water, food and must be provided with ways to cool down. The weather is not always the best during grange season, so it is extremely, extremely important that your rabbits get the attention and care that they need, especially since they are already stressed out from all the commotion and change of scenery. Again we can not stress enough you be there for your rabbits. You cannot expect other people to care for them for you. You also not expect to only be there once a day for your animals. You are expected to spend much of your week there with them. You will have a great time as you do this. Just remember that rabbits are living things, and they need to sit out in the hundred degree weather wearing a fur coat. The condition are even worse for cavies since they are smaller and they have less of a system for cooling down. As you may know, rabbits cannot tolerate temperatures over eighty degrees without some way of cooling down... provided by things such as frozen water bottles, ice, fans, spraying their ears, etc. Make sure you keep this in mind when taking your animals the the grange fair. Another thing to remember is that other people are not responsible for your rabbits. If you are bringing your rabbits you MUST be there to take care of them. Under no circumstance may you not show up to take care of your animals and you can not assume that your friends will help you out. You MUST be there for your rabbits/cavies. 4-h is about gaining responsibility and your rabbits/cavies are your responsiblity. The Grange Fair is really a fun experience for 4-h'ers-though you need to remember that your rabbits are your priorities at the grange fair. Your priorities aren't seeing the other animals, riding the rides or looking at vendors, they are taking care of your animals and this should always come first. And Remember Have Fun, And Take Care Of Your Rabbits. |
