Time

Kagome hurried as she grabbed her school bag, headed out of the shrine door, and towards the room with the well.  She yelled her goodbyes to her family and jumped in.  Down through the time dimension and then a sudden halt after arriving at her destination.  She paused for one moment and sighed.

She climbed out of the well and threw her bag to the side.  She fell back onto the ground and looked up to the sky and smiled.  She couldn't do this in her time.  There was really no place to go without seeing human technology.

A sudden noise made her come to her senses as she seen Inuyasha staring at her.  He squinted his eyes and crossed his arms.

"What are you doing?"  He asked rather annoyed.

"I was just thinking."  Kagome replied.

"You're not here to relax.  Now let's go, we're already late as it is."  Inuyasha said.

Kagome sat up and clenched her fists.

"It's not my fault that I decided to make us lunch and pack food so that we wont starve!"  She yelled.

"Feh!"  Inuyasha said as he turned and began to walk away.

Kagome was about to yell a certain word until the sound of a young child caught her attention.

          "Kagome!"  Shippo yelled.

"Shippo."  Kagome said happily as the little fox jumped into her arms for a big hug.

"Did you miss us Kagome?  We missed you."  Shippo said.

"Yes Shippo, I missed you guys."  Kagome answered.

Shippo smiled happily then jumped to the ground.  Kagome stood up and turned to reach for her bag, but a familiar man stood holding it.  He smiled.

"Good morning Kagome.  It is a pleasure as always to see your smiling face."  Miroku said.

          Kagome smiled.

"Thank you Miroku, but I think I can carry my own bag."  Kagome said as she pointed to her yellow sack.

"It's to heavy for you Kagome, let me lighten your burden."  Miroku replied with a weird smile.

"Knock it off Miroku.  I don't think anyone's in the mood for your womanizeing today."  A familiar woman said.

"Oh...Sango, I wasn't womanizeing Kagome.  I was just helping her out with her heavy backpack."  Miroku said as he began to scratch his head.

"Sure..." Sango said as she glared at him.

Kagome sighed and turned to Inuyasha.

"Inuyasha, we're all here.  Whom are we supposed to meet?"  Kagome asked.

"Yes, who is this person you want us to meet?"  Miroku asked as he began to scratch his chin.

"I'll tell you when we get there.  If we are late, she won’t stick around and wait for our sorry asses to get there."  Inuyasha said.

Kagome sighed as Sango and she noticed Miroku's expression.

"Don't even think about it Miroku."  Shippo said.

"Think about what Shippo?"  He asked nervously.

"I knew it, he's a lost cause."  Shippo said.

          Inuyasha turned around and growled.

"Are you guys coming or not!?" He yelled.

          They all hurried after Inuyasha.

Latter that morning they came to a stop in front of a small Cherry Blossom tree.  Inuyasha placed his hands on his hips and looked around.

"Damn it, I knew if we were late she would leave."  Inuyasha said as he turned to Kagome.

"What?!"  She said as she stood with her fists clenched again.  "We are not going through that again are we?"

"If it wasn't for you then we could have met Time."  Inuyasha yelled.

"Time?"  The others said in unison.

          "Yes, Time."  Inuyasha said angrily.

"You called?"  A young woman said.

A woman with a cloak stepped out from behind the trees and stood before them.  She looked at them and stopped at Inuyasha.

          "You're late."  Time said.

          Inuyasha growled.

"Now, Myoga requested we meet.  Where is he?"  She asked.

"I thought he would be with you."  Inuyasha said.

"Yes, as I though.  Myoga fearing my family’s power decided to ditch you again."  Time said smugly.

"What powers?  All you can do is control the passing of time."  Inuyasha said.

          She laughed.

"Do you not know the ancestors of time?  They see things that no other can see.  I've inherited this power and I too can change the flow of time."  Time said.

"Don't make me laugh."  Inuyasha snapped.

Shippo noticed something out of the corner of his eye and went to go investigate it.

"Fool, this meeting was useless!"  She said as she grabbed a small piece of metal out of her cloak and held it in front of her.  "I'll show you my power on you and your friends!"

Kagome and others tried to move their feet but they couldn't.

"What the hell is this!  I can't move my feet!"  Inuyasha swore.

"I'll take you all back to the time when you could care less of what was going on."  She said as the metal piece in her hands turned.

The metal was a small time piece and the hands began to move backwards.

Shippo found what caught his attention.  He picked up the small being and held him tightly in his hands.

          "Explain yourself Myoga."  Shippo said.

"I was late you see, and Lady Time does not like people being late to their scheduled appointments."  Myoga explained.

"What does she do to people who don't show up on time?"  Shippo asked.

"Well, she rewinds time for them...MASTER INUYASHA!"  Myoga said.

Shippo turned around and darted back towards the group.

Everyone rubbed his or her heads and sat up.  They groaned and moaned.

Shippo came bursting out of the brush with Myoga and nearly had a heart attack.

          "KAGOME!"  Shippo yelled.

"Don't yell Shippo, ow...my head."  She said as she opened her eyes and stared at him.  "Shippo, when did you become so tall?"

Kagome, what's wrong with your voice?"  Inuyasha asked.

          "Speak for yourself."  Kagome replied.

When their vision came into focus, they looked around at each other.

"AHH!"  They yelled and jumped to their feet.  "YOU'RE A CHILD!"

They held out their hands and realized that they were not their normal selves.

"What happened to us?"  Kagome asked.

"Damn it, Time did this to us."  Inuyasha said.

"Lord Inuyasha!"  Myoga said as he jumped out of Shippo's hands and jumped onto Inuyasha's shoulder.

"Myoga?  Damn you, this is your fault!  You made Time mad!"  Inuyasha swore.

"Inuyasha, you were the major cause of this!"  Miroku said.

          "What!?"  He yelled.

"If you wouldn't have said those things to her then she wouldn't have done this to us!"  Kagome yelled.

"What are we going to do?  We're just children now, if we were to be attacked...Kilala!"  Sango yelled as she saw her fully-grown cat walk up to her.

"Shippo, why weren't you affected?  You were with us."  Kagome asked.

"No, I saw Myoga out of the corner of my eye and went after him."  Shippo said.

Inuyasha turned his head to look at the flea.

"You were here the whole time!"  Inuyasha said as he squashed him between his fingers.

"We should head back to the village.  Maybe Kaede would know something."  Sango suggested.

"The only way to attain your original selves is to convince Lady Time to change you back."  Myoga said.

"Well how do we do that?"  Inuyasha asked.

"I'll arrange another meeting."  Myoga said.

Inuyasha squashed him between his fingers agian.

"You're not ditching us this time.  Anyway, why did you want us to meet with her anyway?"  Inuyasha asked.

"I wanted you to form a peace treaty with time."  Myoga said.

"Why would I want to do that?"  Inuyasha said.

"Your Father and Father Time had a dispute a long time ago before you were born.  Your Father had lost to Father Time doing a task in which I was never informed on.  Your Father, in return, got mad and they had been fighting for centuries before he had passed on."  Myoga said.

"So you wanted me to sign a treaty for what happened centuries ago?"  Inuyasha asked.

          "Yes."  He replied.

Inuyasha threw him over his shoulders then stood up.  His sword, being too big to carry on his belt, had to be carried by hand.  They left Sango's boomerang bone and they all dragged Kagome's sack back with them to Kaede's Village.

Kaede had been out in the forest collecting herbs when she heard a noise.  She turned to see Shippo and the others.

She gasped, "What happened to you?"

Inuyasha growled and turned away.  The others sat on the ground, tired from their long walk and the pulling of Kagome's bag.

"Time...did...this to...us."  Shippo said in between breaths.

          "Time?"  Kaede asked.

          "We'll explain latter."  Kagome said.

Kaede ushered them into the village.  She didn't know what to think.

Everyone looked around at each other and laughed.

          Miroku was teasing Sango.

"You are so cute as a child, you're adorable with those chubby cheeks."  He said as he reached to pinch them.

"Touch me and die Miroku."  Sango threaten.

Miroku nervously laughed and recoiled his hand.

Kagome looked at Inuyasha and smiled.

"It doesn't seem like you changed much Inuyasha."  She said.

Inuyasha didn't answer just got up and left the hut.

"What's wrong with him?"  Shippo asked.

Myoga bounced up onto his shoulder.

"Inuyasha wished to forget his childhood once he had became an adult.  Now that he is a child once agian, old memories come back."  Myoga said.

Kagome looked to the ground and understood what he meant.  Inuyasha was an outcast between both demon and human since he was a hanyou.  Neither liked him and shunned him.  The only one who cared for him was his mother, but she died at a young age and left Inuyasha all alone.

Kagome got up and went after Inuyasha.

A loud thud was heard after Kagome left and Shippo turned to see Miroku on the ground with a lump on his head.

"I told you not to touch me."  Sango said.

Shippo sighed and shook his head.

"Even when he was a kid, he was like this."  He said.

Kagome found Inuyasha at the Time Tree.  He stared up at it with no emotion.  Kagome walked up to his side and smiled weekly.  He turned and glanced at her.

"I'm sorry Inuyasha.  I didn't mean to upset you."  Kagome said.

"I'm use to it Kagome."  Inuyasha said.

Kagome turned to look at the tree.  She gasped as she turned around and looked towards the well.

"I can't go home like this!  What will my family think?"  She said worriedly.

"Were you always like this when you were a child?"  Inuyasha asked.

"Like what?"  Kagome asked as she turned to glare at him.

          "This annoying."  Inuyasha said.

          "Inuyasha...sit."  Kagome said.

          Inuyasha stayed standing.

          "What?"  Kagome said in surprise.

"When I was a child, I didn't have the necklace.  It wont have any effect on me until we become our original selves."  Inuyasha said as he smiled in relief.

          Kagome glared at him.

"Looks like you're off the hook for a while."  Kagome said as she fell back and lay on the ground.

Inuyasha stood above her and looked down at her.

"What are you doing?"  He asked.

"I'm looking at the clouds."  Kagome said.  "Didn't you do this when you were a child?"

Inuyasha sighed, "I used to with my mother."

          Kagome sat up.

          "I'm sorry Inuyasha."  Kagome said.

Inuyasha ignored her and sat on the ground next to her.  He placed his hands behind his head and laid back.

"Don't worry about it Kagome."  Inuyasha said.

Kagome nodded her head and lay back beside him.  She smiled and pointed.

"Inuyasha, look at that cloud.  It looks like a tree."  Kagome said as she smiled.

Inuyasha smiled and pointed to another cloud.

"That one looks like the Shikon Jewel when it was whole."  He said.

          Kagome laughed.

"Is that all you ever think about?"  She asked.

"There's one that looks like a demon's head that just was cut off."  Inuyasha said.

          Kagome sat up.

          "Inuyasha!"  Kagome said.

          "What?"  Inuyasha joked.

They sat and both began to laugh.

Back at the hut, Myoga had left to go apologize for earlier that day and wish to make another meeting with Time.  After he was done doing that, he was supposed to return back to the hut to make sure he was not late again.

Shippo was playing with Kilala and Sango sat outside watching the other children play.  A young girl ran up to her.

“You seem new here, do you want to play with us?”  She asked.

Sango sighed as she looked towards the other children.  She was surprised to see Miroku playing with them.  Miroku turned and smiled at her.

“Get Shippo and come play with us Sango.  There is no use worrying about what happened.  We’ll just have fun being kids for a while.”

Sango sighed and went to go get Shippo.  He is right.  Worrying about what happen will not change us back.  We can be kids again and have fun.  Sango thought.

Inuyasha and Kagome sat talking for the rest of the afternoon.  They decided to get up and go back to the village.  Upon arriving at the village, they saw Sango chasing Miroku.  They both had a smile on their faces and seemed to be playing a game.  Then they saw Sango tackle him.

“You’re it now!”  She said as she took off running.

Kagome and Inuyasha gawked at them with their mouths opened.  Miroku, not noticing them, ran strait into them.

“Ow…” Kagome said as she rubbed her head.

“I’m sorry.  I didn’t see you there.  Hey, do you guys want to play?” Miroku asked.

“That’s for kids to play Miroku.” Inuyasha said.

“Well, we I are kids.” Miroku said.

          Kagome smiled and got up.

“I’ll play.” She said as she took off running after Sango.

“How do you play?” Inuyasha said in defeat.

“You just run around trying not to get tagged.” Miroku said.

          “Is that it?” Inuyasha asked.

“Yep.” Miroku said with a smile.

“What an easy game.  How do you win?” Inuyasha asked.

“There really is no winner.”  Miroku said.

“What’s the point of playing a game that can never be won then?” Inuyasha asked.

“Well, it’s just for the fun of it.” Miroku said as he placed his hand on Inuyasha’s shoulder.  “You know what else too?”

          “What?” Inuyasha asked.

“There’s no tag backs and…” Miroku began.

          “Tag backs?” Inuyasha asked.

“If someone tags you, then who ever tagged you, you can’t tag them back.  So when you tag someone, you yell, YOU’RE IT!” Miroku took off running in the opposite direction.

“Hey!  You cheat!” Inuyasha said as he spotted the first kid he seen and ran after them.

Latter that night, Myoga returned with good news.  He said that Lady Time would grant them another audience.  They were happy because they would soon, hopefully, return to their old selves again.  They all sat outside by the Bone Eaters Well talking happily to each other.

Kagome looked over at Inuyasha and smiled.  He looked at her.

          “What?” He asked.

“I was just thinking.  I know that you didn’t have a good child hood, but I’m hoping that today will at least leave you with one good memory.” She said.

          Inuyasha smiled and nodded.

“I’ll remember today Kagome.” Inuyasha said.

“You know, I thought being a kid again would be terrible, but I guess that it wasn’t so bad.  I haven’t enjoyed myself in a long time.” Sango said.

          Kilala purred in her lap.

“I had forgotten how big Kilala was when I was a kid.”  She smiled then looked towards Miroku.  “Thank you for the advice earlier or I would have never had had fun today.”

“It wasn’t a problem.” Miroku said.

Shippo was asleep leaning on the well.  He had used up a lot of energy playing with everyone today.

“I never realized that kids could cheat.” Inuyasha said.

          They all looked at him.

“What do you mean Inuyasha?” They all asked.

“Today, when we were playing that running around game.  I saw this one kid tag someone.” Inuyasha said.

“That’s what you do, that’s not cheating.” Kagome said as she smiled.

“That would be right, but that one kid wasn’t it.  That’s why we had two taggers.” Inuyasha said.

          They all laughed.

The next day came quickly.  Inuyasha, Kagome, Miroku, and Sango went with Myoga to meet Time.  When they found her, she was with two other people.

          “Who are they?” Inuyasha asked.

“I see that you are all here this time minus one person.” She said as she counted.

“We left Shippo back at the village.” Inuyasha said.

“I see then.  Well these two are my older brother and younger sister.” She said.

          “I’m Future.” The boy said.

“And I’m Past.” The girl said.

“What are they doing here?” Inuyasha asked.

“Lord Inuyasha, don’t make them mad or they could erase you from time.” Myoga said.

          Time looked at them.

“Can we start this and get this over with?” Time said.

Time took out a piece of paper and read from it.

~ * ~

“Sign here please.” Time said as she gave him the paper.

          Inuyasha grumbled.

          “Just sign.” Past said.

“Be quite, I am.” Inuyasha said.

“I’d be careful what you say to her.” Future said.

Inuyasha growled and shoved the paper back to Time.

“What a stupid argument.” Inuyasha said.

          “I agree.” Time said.

Time signed the paper and then it disappeared.

          “Thank you.” She said.

“Now that that’s all done, can we return to out old selves again?” Kagome asked.

          Time looked at her.

“Fine.” She said as she waved her hand.

~ * ~

They all woke up after a few moments.  They all rubbed his or her heads and opened their eyes.

“We’re back to normal!” Kagome said happily.

          “Finally.”  Inuyasha said.

“Now I can go home.” Kagome said happily as she rose to her feet and took off running.

Inuyasha sighed as he got to his feet and followed after her.

Miroku looked around and sighed.  Sango growled as Miroku flinched.

“I wasn’t thinking anything.” Miroku said.

“Ya…right.” Sango said as she got up and walked after Inuyasha.

“I can never win can I Kilala?” Miroku said.

Kilala looked up at him, meowed, and took off after Sango.  Miroku smiled and followed after them.
