Karou Kamiya A skilled swordswoman, Kaoru is the successor to the Kamiya Kasshin-ryu school of martial arts. She runs a dojo in Tokyo all by herself, and her fighting style is designed to protect the weak and improve the self. Although Kenshin considers such style to be a fairy-tale dream, he prefers that dream to the bloddy reality he has known. He comes to have a deep respect for Karou.

Megumi Takani A lady doctor who was forced by a drug cartel to refine a new and stronger form of opium. When a friend of Sanosuke dies using the drug, it sets in motion a string of events that may free her-or kill her. Although she flirts with Kenshin all the time, for some reason her shouting matches with Sano seem much more natural.
