Chapter 8

 

Off to Rescue Shippo

 

                “What?”  Inu Yasha and Kagome said.

 

                “That’s what we’ve been wanting to tell you.  Last night Sesshomaru came and took Shippo.  Sesshoamru told us where we could find him.  But that is strange.”  Miroku said.

 

                “What would Sesshomaru’s want with Shippo?”  Kagome asked.

 

                “We don’t know.”  Sango said.

 

                Kilala purred at Sango’s feet.

 

                “We should go now.”  Inu Yasha said as he turned and told Kagome and Zoey to get on. 

 

                Miroku and Sango mounted Kilala and the six of them took off.

                It was dark when they landed below a shelter of trees.  Kagome stood holding Zoey as Miroku looked around to find the way they should go.

 

                “We should head this way.”  Miroku pointed to the right where there was a clear path.

 

                “OK.”  Kagome said as she began to walk but Inu Yasha stopped her.

 

                “Kagome, you should leave Zoey here, we don’t want Zoey to get hurt like last time.”  Miroku said

 

                “Last time?  What are you talking about?”  Kagome said as she put Zoey down.

 

                “Daddy, I want to come too.” Zoey said.

 

                Inu Yasha walked up to her and kneeled beside her and ruffled up her head. “We’ll be back shortly with Shippo.  Kilala will be here with you.  Just stay put for a few.”

 

                “OK.”  Zoey said disappointedly.

 

                Inu Yasha stood up and everyone, except Zoey and Kilala, began to walk down the path.

 

                Everyone was silent.  They were trying to see if they could her Shippo.  Inu Yasha’s ears twitched and the spotted him tied to a tree.  Kagome rushed over to him, followed by the others, and took the cloth out of his mouth.

 

                Shippo gasped for air then looked around.  “Finally you came!  We got to hurry before Sesshoamru gets back because he wants.....hey?  Where’s Zoey?”  Shippo asked as he was released from his binds.

 

                “She’s with Kilala.”  Sango said.

 

                Shippo gasped, “Sesshomaru’s after Zoey!”  Shippo said as they heard Zoey scream in the distance.

 

                Inu Yasha growled and turned to the path to see his brother holding Zoey in her arm.

 

                “Daddy!”  Zoey yelled.

 

                “Zoey!  Sesshomaru, let her go!”  Inu Yasha said.

 

                “Inu Yasha!  Sesshomaru has a Shikon Jewel fragment in his hand!”  Kagome said.

 

                Sesshoamru opened his hand and the shard sparkled.  “I wish to conduct a small experiment.”  He raised Zoey’s head and with his claw, he made a small slit in the middle of her forehead.

 

                Zoey screamed and flung her head to try and get rid of the pain.  Sesshomaru caught her head and forced the Shikon shard into the cut.  Zoey’s eyes began to glow red.  She closed them and laid limp in Sesshomaru’s arm.

 

                “I’ll be back in seven days.  I’ll take care of this child for you until then.”  Sesshomaru said as he threw a powder onto the ground that made Inu Yasha and Shippo both choke then he disappeared.
