Chapter 3

True Feelings

                Later that day, Kagome had gotten into an argument with Inu Yasha about going back to the modern time.

                “You can’t just leave me here with that little brat!” He yelled.

                “It’s just for a couple of days. I need my education.” Kagome said.

                Meantime, Zoey played with Shippo and Kilala.

                “Can you two count?” Zoey asked them. Shippo looked at her and Kilala tilted her head at Zoey. “It’s easy. You only have to count to ten. Here, I’ll show you.” She said as she sat down in the dirt and began to draw figures on the sand, “Like this, here 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, OK?” She said as she looked at them. She got up and walked over to a tree and swiped a piece of bark off the tree. “The tree with the bark missing is home base, you’re safe there.” Zoey said, “You go hide. I’ll count.” She turned and began to count when Inu Yasha picked her up off the ground and carried her off as he carried her by her stomach.

                “Come on squirt, Kagome’s looking for you.” Inu Yasha said.

                “Daddy, let me go. We’re playing hide and seek.” Zoey began to kick and flail. “Put me down!”

                Zoey was still yelling when they came into view. “Looks like Inu Yasha’s being mean.” Kagome said.

                “Have you ever heard of feet? I have two of them!” Zoey yelled.

                “Be quiet!” Inu Yasha barked.

                “You, you big Meany! SIT!” Zoey yelled.

                Everyone watched Inu Yasha as he dropped Zoey. She ran off to behind a bolder a put her hands over her head. The necklace around his neck began to glow bright pink. *THUD* Inu Yasha hit the ground. He got up and looked around for Zoey. He put his hands around the beads and pulled on them. They still wouldn’t come off. They seemed to acting normal.

                “Hey, what the hell! I thought only Kagome could make the beads work!” Inu Yasha got up and walked towards the bolder that the little girl was hiding behind.

                “I thought so too.” Kagome said as she stared at Inu Yasha.

                “Let’s see, sit?” Miroku said. The others laughed.

                “SHUT UP!” Inu Yasha yelled.

                Inu Yasha peered over the rock to see the little girl crying. She grabbed a hold of Inu Yasha’s waist and cried harder. “Daddy, I’m sorry Daddy, don’t hit me. I didn’t mean to say the bad word. Don’t hit me, not like last time.” She cried.

                “I won’t hit you squirt, I just want you to tell me how you did it.” Inu Yasha said.

                “Did what?” Zoey asked as she wiped her eyes.

                “Make me sit!” He snarled.

                “I don’t know.” She said, “I just said it.”

                Kagome was going to say something but she realized that it was getting late. “Oh my god! Ii need to get home. I have to take a test in Math and Science.” Kagome yelled. “Zoey, I’ll be back in three days, behave for Daddy.” She smiled.

                “Don’t encourage her!” Inu Yasha yelled.

                When dusk came around, Zoey and Shippo were playing around some of the trees that were in view that Inu Yasha could see. When the sun was completely gone and the moon had begun to shine, all that filled the night was the laughter of Shippo and Zoey playing.

                “Come on Shippo, let’s play over here.” Zoey said happily.

                “Not to far. You’ll be going to bed soon.” Inu Yasha called.

                “OK Daddy.” She called.

                “You seem to act like a father figure.” Miroku smiled.

                “It’s not for long. When Kagome gets back, I won’t have to deal with her. AND I’m not her father!” Inu Yasha glared at him.

                Shippo and Zoey were playing a little ways out of Inu Yasha’s sight.

                “Shippo, tag, you’re it.” Zoey laughed.

                Shippo stopped and looked at some brush in the woods.

                “Shippo, what are you looking at?” Zoey said as she stopped to look.

                “I heard a noise.” He said.

                They both stood there quiet and still. They looked at each other and shrugged.

                “I didn’t hear anything…” Zoey said as she turned around to see a tall demon wearing white standing in front of them. “Who are you?” She asked.

                The demon looked at Shippo. “You, is Inu Yasha around.” It’s voice said.

                “That, that voice. It’s Sesshomaru!” Shippo said.

                Zoey ran around Sesshomaru and began to scream.

                Back at the camp, Miroku and Inu Yasha stood up to see what the trouble was. Zoey came running out of the woods and darted behind Inu Yasha.

                “What’s wrong?” Inu Yasha asked.

                Zoey was shaking, “It’s Uncle Sessho.” She said as she put her head up against his leg.

                “Uncle Sessho?” Zoey said.

                Shippo ran past Inu Yasha, “It’s your brother Sesshomaru.”

                “Sesshomaru!” Inu Yasha yelled as his brother walked into view.

                He walked out to the middle of the clearing and stood there. The wind blew as leaves swirled at the demon’s feet. He looked around as he turned to face Inu Yasha and the others. “Little brother, I see that your woman isn’t here.”

                “So what, that just shows trouble for you.” Inu Yasha said as he cracked his knuckles.

                Sesshomaru was going to say something till Jaken interrupted, “Well what do we have here? Another half-breed.” Jaken said as he poked her with his staff.

                “I’m not a half-breed you slimy toad!” She yelled.

                “Gak! Wha-what did you call me!” He yelled.

                “You heard me, SLIMY TOAD!” She yelled.

                “You have a sharp tong, but my master Sesshomaru will make sure you won’t talk back to him.” Jaken said.

                “If you lay one hand on me, Daddy will get you.” She said sticking her tong out at Jaken.

                “You mean that waist of flesh and blood is your father?” Jaken said shockingly.

                “Daddy? You’re merely six. How many times do I have to tell you that I’m not your father! There’s no way that I’m your father any way!” He snarled.

                “There are other ways to acquire a child. How about that Priestess who guarded the Shikon jewel. There’s been plenty of time for you two to have a child.” Sesshomaru smiled. “If she is not your child, then you do not care if she may die.” Sesshomaru said as he ran forward towards Inu Yasha and Zoey.

                Zoey ran out from behind Inu Yasha and ran towards the woods. Inu Yasha braced himself for an attack but it didn’t come. He heard Zoey yip. “Zoey!” He yelled.

                “Daddy, help me.” Zoey yelled as she was up against Jaken who had her arms.

                “Hold her still Jaken. I want to get a clean cut.” Sesshomaru said while looking at his claws.

                “Kill her with one slash M’Lord.” Jaken said.

                As Sesshomaru’s claws came rushing towards her, she pushed back on Jaken to get away from his claws. It was enough to get Jaken to stumble back and just get a scrap from Sesshomaru’s claws.  Blood trickled down her cheek as she covered her mouth.  Poison was in the air and she knew she would die if she would breath it in.

 

                “Jaken, you should have held her better.  I merely just scraped her.”  Sesshomaru said.

 

                “Sorry Master Sesshomaru.  I’ll do better this time.”  Jaken said as he grabbed Zoey.

 

                “Hey, let go!”  Zoey yelled as her lungs were reveled to the poison.  She gasped as she began to fall victim to the poison.  Zoey looked up to see Sesshomaru somewhat smiling at her.

 

                “Don’t worry girl, you will not die from the poison.”  Sesshomaru said.  Just as he was about to kill her, Inu Yasha’s fist hit the back of Sesshomaru’s head.  Sesshomaru turned to see his brother’s sword drawn and was positioned to where Inu Yasha could slit his neck.

 

                “I see, so you do care for her; but not to long from now, her weak lungs will collapse from the poison and she will die.  I will come back for the Tetsusaiga.  For now, I’ve messed with her and it will leave you heart broken when her mother gets back.” Sesshoamru disappeared as well as Jaken into the night.  Inu Yasha found Zoey collapsed on the ground barely breathing.  Sango and Miroku ran over to where Inu Yasha stood.

 

                “Inu Yasha, what’s wrong with her?”  Sango asked.

 

                “Sesshomaru’s poison got to her.  She’ll die soon.”  Inu Yasha said.

 

                “Give her crystal water.  That’ll help against Lord Sesshomaru’s poison.”  A little voice said.

 

                “Hey, it’s Myoga the flea.”  Shippo said as he bounced onto Miroku’s shoulder.

 

                “Water can’t cure poison!  You know that!”  Inu Yasha barked.

 

                “Ah but crystal water purifies the body Lord Inu Yasha.”  He spoke.

 

                “Fine, where do we get this crystal water?”  Inu Yasha asked.

 

                “You can get it in the village, but you must not disturb the body till after she drinks it.”  Myoga said.

 

                “Daddy...”  Zoey quietly said.  Inu Yasha kneeled down beside her.

 

                “What is it?” He asked not willing to yell at her for calling him daddy.

 

                “My head doesn’t hurt anymore.  Neither does my stomach.  You can hold me by my stomach now.” Zoey said.

 

                “You shouldn’t talk.”  He turned to Sango.  “Will you get the water?”  He asked.

 

                “OK...” Sango said as she turned to Kilala who turned into her big demon cat form.  Sango jumped on her back and then ran off towards the village along with Myoga.

 

                “Daddy, how mommy more days will it me till mommy comes back?  Mommy makes me feel better when I feel sick.”  She paused, “Daddy, the world’s moving, could you make it stop?”  She asked.

 

                “I can’t, close your eyes, you’ll drink some water that will make you feel better.”  Inu Yasha said.

 

                “OK daddy.”  Zoey said as the world became black.

 

                When Sango came back with the water.  Miroku had decided that Inu Yasha should give Zoey the water.  They gave Inu Yasha the water and walked back to where they had set up camp. 

 

                “Zoey are you awake?” He asked.

 

                “Uh huu.”  She answered.

 

                “I need you to drink this.”  He said as Zoey opened her mouth and Inu Yasha tilted the bottle lightly so Zoey could drink it.  After the water was gone, Inu Yasha picked her up and slowly walked back to cam.  Inu Yasha leapt into a tree and slept with her in his arms.

                The next day Zoey and Inu Yasha slept in.  Sango and Miroku sat sipping tea while waiting.  Shippo was playing with Kilala and nothing seemed to reflect last night’s incident.

 

                “What’s everyone doing?” Someone asked.

 

                “Kagome?  I thought you had school?”  Sango asked.

 

                “It was canceled because of the broken gas pipes.”  Kagome said not realizing that the others had no clue.  “Where are Inu Yasha and Zoey?”

 

                “Up there; sleeping.”  Miroku pointed.  “Kagome, I’ve been thing about the little girl named Zoey.  She claims you’re her mother and Inu Yasha her father.  There are demons who manipulate the future and she might be some demon’s puppet for now.”  Miroku said.

 

                “You mean she might be from the future?”  Kagome asked.

 

                “Maybe, but there are also other demons that can mess with peoples’ minds.”  Miroku said.

 

                “Oh, good morning.” Kagome said as she seen Inu Yasha holding Zoey walk towards them.

 

                “Hello, why are you back so soon?”  Inu Yasha said as he sat with the group with Zoey still sleeping in his arms.

 

                “Why are you carrying her?  Why don’t you put her down?”  Kagome said.

 

                “It’s OK, she’s not bothering me.”  Inu Yasha said as Zoey began to move.  She opened her eyes and began to snuggle up against Inu Yasha.

 

                “Morning Mommy.”  Zoey yawned.  Kagome smiled as Zoey closed her eyes to drift back off to sleep.  Kagome looked from Inu Yasha to Zoey.

 

                “Did I miss something?”  Kagome asked.

 

                “Nothing really, Inu Yasha fell victim to his fatherly nature.”  Miroku said as he smiled.

 

                “Shut up Monk!”  Inu Yasha growled.
