Chapter 12

Things Begin to Make Sense

Inu Yasha growled as he sensed a strange aura. He swung around to see a glowing yellow aura swirling around Kagome. He grabbed his sword out of the tree and ran towards her. The aura drifted past Inu Yasha and towards Zoey.

Kagome fell to the ground and stared at Zoey. She began to move when the aura hovered near her. She opened her eyes and watched the yellow cloud and smiled weakly, "Hello."

Inu Yasha hurried over to where Zoey was and began to swipe at the aura. It was useless though, it was only a energy. Inu Yasha couldn’t do anything to it.

The yellow aura stopped hovering over Zoey and floated towards the sky over the trees. Inu Yasha knelt down towards Zoey and lifted her up. She had fallen asleep. He took her to where Kagome stood and handed her Zoey. Kagome held onto Zoey tightly and Miroku, Sango, and Shippo got on Kilala’s back and head back towards Kaede’s village.

Inu Yasha had taken off since they had gotten Zoey back. Kagome stayed with her in one of the small village huts, waiting for Kaede to come back. Kaede had been called off to another village recently and was due back any day.

Miroku and Sango sat outside the village at the Bone Eater’s well talking.

"How strange things happen." Miroku began.

"What do you mean Miroku?" Sango asked.

Miroku thought back to when they saw the yellow demon aura surround Kagome and Zoey. "Don’t you remember Kagome tell us about a yellow glowing thing?"

Sango thought to her self for a moment, "Now that you mention it, I do remember Kagome saying something." Sango said.

"Kagome has seen this yellow...aura twice now, once here, and once on her time. Each time, it had to do with Zoey." Miroku said.

"You think that the demon aura we saw yesterday is what Kagome has been talking about?" Sango asked.

"I believe so." Miroku paused, "Kagome seen the aura right before she found Zoey that one night, and last time, we both know that Sesshomaru killed Zoey. No demon or human can survive a pierced skull." Miroku said.

Sango sat silently for a few moments. "Miroku, why do you think that Inu Yasha hasn’t been coming around Kagome or Zoey lately?" She said as she changed the subject.

Miroku smiled, "I don’t even know the answer to that question, but I do believe that he has been searching for Sesshomaru."

"That’s right, Sesshomaru knows something. He knows what Zoey is and her creator, but all we saw was the demon aura." Sango said.

"I deed." Miroku said.

Inu Yasha jumped from tree to tree. He was searching for Sesshomaru. ‘Damn him. He knows something.’ Inu Yasha finally stopped and stood on the tree branch he had landed on. ‘Zoey’s creator...who the hell is that? The only thing that I sensed was that demon aura, but that was only an aura. There was no demon. Damn it! Why can’t I get any answers.’

Inu Yasha turned around and began to head back towards Kaede’s Village.

Kagome sat next to Zoey when she began to move again. She opened her eyes and rolled her head to one side. She didn’t look at Kagome or didn’t even want to. Shippo sat on Zoey’s other side and smiled at her when she looked at him.

‘Zoey, I’m so sorry for what you had to go through. It wasn’t your fault. You couldn’t control yourself.’ Kagome kept telling herself this in her head. She kept trying to tell Zoey, but when she tried, she couldn’t say a word. She just sat there.

Zoey rolled her head towards Kagome but didn’t look at her, "Mommy?" She asked.

"Yes Zoey?" Kagome answered feeling a little bit better because she was talking to her.

"Are you and Daddy mad at me?" She asked.

"No, we’re not mad at you." Kagome answered.

"Mommy, I’m a bad demon." Zoey said as she began to cry.

"Shh." Kagome said as she picked her up and held her gently.

From behind them, Kaede had just gotten back to the village and walked through the door of the hut Zoey, Kagome, and Shippo were in. Kaede looked at Zoey and then to Kagome. ‘I sense a demon’s aura. This child...it could not be right?’ "Kagome, what is this child?"

Kagome was shocked at the question, she didn’t know how to answer it at first. "She’s, a hanyou." Kagome answered.

Kaede shook her head, "No my child. Kagome, don’t you sense it. This child that you are holding."

Kagome shook her head, "I don’t understand Kaede, what do you mean?"

Kaede turned around and began to walk out of the door, "I must speak with someone first, Kagome, before I tell you anything."
