The Empire of the Chalcedon is what is left of the once great Empire of Asteria. After the Breaking, Emperor Maelstrom went on a voyage to aid his ally, the High Elf, Tannhauser Na'Dir, but never returned. A man claiming to be a direct descendent of the founder of Asteria, led a small rebellion to lay claim the title of Emperor. After winning the title, Asteria ceased to exist, calling itself instead the Empire of the Chalcedon. Though Emperor Guilotine II seems to hold utmost authority, many people claim that his High Priest really call the shots, and that his High Priest is really a priest of Zodo.
