Wyoming, Summer 2001
September 1&2: Black Mountain Ranch, near Lander Wyoming
The Popo Agie River in Sinks Canyon, best hiking in the world. It's about 10 miles from the Ranch and just down the mountain from Fossil Hill.
One of the 4 bedrooms at the Ranch house. This place is great! Full kitchen and hand-made log beds with the beautiful porch shown at left. And the price is very reasonable!!
August 31: Louis Lake Lodge, elevation 12,000+ft. Located between Lander and Atlantic City in the Wind River Range
We spent the next morning canoeing around Louis Lake and hiking up the ridge.
We stayed in a duplex cabin, next to a  friendly, but rather audible Mormon family.
August 29: Denver. We arrive at midnight and stay with my cousin & his wife in Colorado Springs. Lots of driving tomorrow!
August 30: Centennial, WY via Fort Collins, CO. We drove to Fort Collins to visit some important people in Water Quality at Colorado State U. Tooled around and check out the town. Then on up to Centennial, Wyoming - along the scenic Byway through the Snowy Mountain Range. While having dinner at our Hotel, our server turned out to be the girlfriend of my co-worker's brother. Of course, my co-worker lived in TX, we in were in Wyoming. Was that a weird coincidence!
We left Louie Lake and drove down the seasonal road past Branson Field Lab (U. Missoui Columbia) and down in to town. After we settled in the Guest House, we headed to Lander for dinner at the Lander Bar - where, amazingly, we ran into Kimmy Jo Urbanski. I knew Kimmy from my 1999 trip to Lander. That night they had the annual Blues Festival at the bar.

My cousin, Michael, and his wife Jenny drove up from Ft. Collins, CO to share the Guest House with us. The next day we went to the Catholic Church, where some of the Blues Singers performed gospel songs. Then, off to a big lunch at the ShowBoat Diner before ascending Fossil Hill.

After our hiking adventure, Sam cooked the 4 of us dinner at the Guest House. We had his famous Mushroom Chicken, which tasted even better after a tough day of hiking.
