Hill at Stony Batter

Stony Batter is a promotory at the eastern end of Waiheke Island.
Here was housed a large gun battery, built to stop Japanese invaders in World War II.
New Zealand was never threatened directly. After the war the guns were sold for scrap... to Japan.
So they got the guns after all, without firing a shot!
