Jerri’s Detroit Encounter
Hey Everyone,
Here is my write up about the concert in Detroit (actually I'm not gonna spend too much time on the concert but rather the ENCOUNTER :-) ).
As I mentioned yesterday I decided to head to the mall to make a donation to the fundraiser that several of the stations in the area were having. The mall is about 40-45 mins away from where I live....traffic was really bad (why weren't these people at work??). So we were listening the radio and I turned it on a station (that wasn't at the mall) and I thought I heard Kevin's voice (LOL its gotta be a obsession if I can tell his voice after just 2 words!!) turns out it was Kevin and Brian. So we listened to them while we drove. After they left my sister said I wonder were they are going next. I said probably to the venue or catching up with the other guys. We finally got to the mall and I wanted to go in a store first and look for something.....so we headed there first. I didn't find what I wanted (I have a habit of doing that don't I Tracy? :-) ) so we left. I said lets make the donation and head for the Palace (which is the venue). So I went over to the pledge table...which was right in front of the DJs who were on the air. I heard one of them say and now the Backstreet Boys....but I didn't pay them any attention (even with all the screaming that was going on) because I thought they were just playing Drowning or something (after all I had just heard the guys at the other radio station). So I continued to fill out the pledge form and my sister said look.....so I looked up and Brian & Kevin were standing right in front of me (about 15 feet)! I screamed more out of shock than anything and that caused Brian, Kevin, the DJs and several other people to look at me. The guys gave me the weirdest look then smiled and continued on with the interview. I think I got their attention only because no one else was screaming at the time (it was kinda like the last person to get the joke and you are laughing way after everyone else had stopped)... that was me. I didn't get to actually meet the guys or have them sign anything because security wouldn't let anyone near them. But they did sing for us and joked around with Jerry Stackhouse (a Detroit Piston) and the DJs. I did however at least get pics this time (hopefully I'll get them scanned or something in the upcoming week). That was a pleasant surprise to see the guys there....I always seem to find them in the least expected places (and it usually has something to do with my favorite past time....SHOPPING).
The concert its self was great although Krystal wasn't there :( . According to Kevy she was in LA recording something. Sisqo was better than I thought he would be... although I still wanted to see Shaggy (I know I've just gotta let it go LOL!). I had 9th row seats that felt more like 4th or 5th row....great view of everything....the stage, catwalk etc.. (but no personal interactions at the concert....I think Brian & Kevin warned the others about the girl at the mall LOL!) .The guys had a lot of energy...which I was surprised by considering it was their 4th show in 4 nights.....although AJ did say they were tired when we booed after he said they only had time for 2 more shows.....if we could have found a way we would have kept them in Detroit forever :-) . Brian was very playful and just having a great time. Kevy was very interactive with crowds on the sides. I got to see A LOT of Brian, AJ and Howie...but not much of Nick in fact I only remember seeing him on my side 2 or 3 times through out the whole show. Of course I spent most of the time watching my Choirboy :-). It was a great nite and I hope the boys don't take too much time off from another tour (just enough time for me to save some $$$).
Sorry Bunny that we didn't get to meet up.....one of these days we will :-)
Here are some other facts that I would like to share with you (then I gotta go a Thunderstorm is headed our way).
The fundraiser raised about $700,000 (it was at $500,000 when I left the show last nite).BSB 2nd row tix were auctioned off and went for $5,000.BSB themselves and Jive donated $10,000 to the cause (such generous guys I tell ya!).During the interview that we heard in the car Kevy clarified his comments from a previous interview (which I was clueless on). He said that he didn't mean to upset or offend anyone, that most of the words came from anger and shock and that it probably wasn't the right time to say them.
Well, I gotta go...I still have to find directions to Tinely Park LOL.....nothing like waiting until the last minute.
Take Care everyone
Jerri
Hopefully Jerri will have some awesome pics soon.
