Bunny’s Detroit Review
Jerri - what a Brian encounter you had! How funny!
I only got to see the last half of the show (They were
already singing "Time" when we got to our seats), due to getting lost
on the way to the venue. But what we
saw was fantastic! My friend, Rhonda, came
with me and my daughter, Rachel. Rachel
wasn't excited about coming - she just wanted to see Sisqo, but we missed
him. Rhonda is
a big Backstreet fan, and this was her first concert!
During "Time", AJ and Nick had finished crossing
over the bridge and were back on the main stage. AJ had silly string and was chasing Nick around the stage with
it! It was so funny to watch! Howie had this weird multi-colored hat on -
almost like a jester's hat. I was REALLY
happy when he took that thing off - then Kevin put it on! They sang "Shining Star" and "The
Answer to our Lives" (not necessarily in that order). The Palace is much smaller than the Silverdome
(where the boys played in February). So
much nicer acoustics! And I was able to
see the whole stage and ALL the boys! Of
course, most of my time was spent watching Howard - nice moves, guy! I did take lots of pictures, tried to get
pics of all of the fellas. I hope they turn out. We all sang "America the Beautiful" with the boys. That was nice.
They introduced the band and the dancers while the guys
changed. They returned to sing
"Everybody". Brian had on a
USA shirt and a stars-and-stripes bandanna.
Kevin had on a bandanna at one point too. AJ wore a USA shirt as well.
They launched into "Get Another Boyfriend" - one of my
personal favorites. During the opening to
"The Call", when AJ answers the phone - he put his hand over the phone
and said "Oh, it's the ex!"
He kept saying "stop calling - no more kissy kissy" and things
of that sort. I was like - OMG! They danced
so superbly (couldn't see the stage well enough at the last concert I went
to). They sounded tremendous!
Other people have commented on the MB that the fellas seemed
more relaxed this time than in concerts before AJ took his needed time off. I agree – a lot more playful among
themselves – a lot more interaction with the audience! I heard Kevin's interview on TRL (he sounded
so wiped out), but none of that showed in the concert. He was lively, funny, played with the
audience.
As Jerri already said - the audience groaned when AJ said
before "The Call" that there were only 2 more songs. He said they have a day off Friday and need
some rest. I was very proud of him
stating that they get tired on the road!
Good for AJ for being real!
During "Shape of my Heart", there was a girl with
a sign that said "Please give me the shirt off your back". Brian saw the sign, autographed one of his
charity's t-shirt and gave it to the security to give to the girl. That was sweet! She was so excited!
"Drowning" performed live was better than I was
even hoping! It was phenomenal! What a gorgeous song! They showed Kevy up close on the big screen
during his "Love me mouth-to-mouth" phrase! The crowd went wild.
Even though we only saw the second half, I went through 2
rolls of film. Hopefully, something
will turn out okay. If it does, I'll send it in and maybe it can get posted on
the lite site.
Sorry - this is so long!
Probably a good thing that I only saw an hour! Sorry I missed you Jerri - I really wanted to meet you :( But you're right - we will meet another
time!
My friend, Rhonda, is now willing to go to the next concert
with me.
Rachel says she has to go and be our chaperone! LOL!
Take care!
