Ty Hamilton hates small towns and the prejudices they always bring to him. But he knows he has a job to do and hes the best in his field. Being the CIAs golden child he knows the agency depends on him to get the job done. With that in mind, Ty plans to get into Peking and get his criminal as quickly and quietly as possible.  But his plans suddenly change when he meets his only contact in the small town. Ty is slammed with a whirlwind of emotions he never expected and finds himself breaking a lot of the rules hes always followed by the book.

Carrie Winslow has always planned her life in advance. Knowing that her small home town needs her and everything her parents expect from her has driven her to success. Now with her father retiring, her parents have planned that Carrie will follow in her fathers footsteps and become the next mayor of Peking. Carrie knows that her mother has never approved of any man shes ever dated and when Ty walks into her life she knows the trouble it will bring. However, Carrie cant help herself when this incredible vision of a man walks through her door. And she soon finds herself facing some hard facts about her life and exactly who shes living it for.

Dark Kisses is an excellent story of a small town woman trying to live up to the expectations that have been put on her shoulders. This story is hot and sensual while still maintaining a strong storyline that will keep most readers turning those pages and wishing they were in Carries place!

Blaze Robinson was expecting a nice quiet Beltane that he could celebrate in the fashion he was used to.  Things dont go to plan when his agent, Daniel Owens, informs him that he will be spending the week with a reporter.  Unfortunately the advantages outweigh the disadvantages so Blaze agrees to let Valda Lymen from Weird Magazine spend the holiday with him.  Ms. Lymen is a cowan, a non-believer, so it should be an interesting experience for them both.  When Blaze does a tarot reading for himself, he discovers that even more could be in store for him than he previously thought.  Valda Lymen has been waiting for a chance to debunk Blaze in her column, and is excited that her chance has finally come.  What common ground could a pagan witch and a non-believing journalist possibly find?

Lena Austin is a prolific author who is always coming up with something new.  This time she kicks off Triskelions new series, The Wheel of the Year, which focuses on various pagan celebrations throughout the year.  This is a fabulous contemporary which educates the ignorant in the importance of Beltane to Wiccan practitioners, while also telling a darn good story.  The characters are far from ordinary, and different from those the average romance book produces.  I was impressed with the language and tone used by both characters, who seemed very real to me.  For Buffy fans youll be pleased to know that Blazes cat is called Spike this gave me a great chuckle.  Later in the story, another scene made me laugh out loud.  The scenes with the Goddess were so realistic, they made me wish I was a witch just so I could meet her.  This story has a bit of everything.  I highly recommend Eyes of the Cowan, and Lena Austin to everyone.

Caroline Davis is a senior gemologist who loves her job.  The best part of the day was checking the stones back in and looking at how much had been done to them by the cutters.  As she left the office Friday, she worried about their stock being split between two locations, one of which was not very secure.  She didnt realize it would be her last thought.  Special Agent Kevin Connelly was outside his Grandsires office complex when it came tumbling down.  The shock caused him to utter a quick prayer before following his partner, Evelyn, out of the car to help with the commotion that was caused.  He finds Caroline stuck in the rubble and stays with her, giving her a choice between life and death.

Honorable Risk showcases a dark world that exists within our own existence set in our world with mortals being ignorant of those they share it with.  The beginning of the story had too much telling and not enough showing, which slowed the pace, and decreased the amount of tension and action that this story could have held.  Once the pace picked up I enjoyed this story of a new vampire being sired, and the after effects that the siring caused.  Ms. Ross has created an appealing family of vampires for her series, and it will be interesting to see where things develop.  I recommend Honorable Risk to fans of the vampire genre.
