She had become guardian of her younger sister when their parents were killed when Cara was eighteen. Although Cara is devastated when the younger sister is brutally raped and murdered ten years later, she vows to hunt down the killer and make him pay. It is soon obvious that she is dealing with a psychopath who is really after her. This does not faze her. She is sure she is equal to the task of catching him. Police Chief Luke Devlin has had a crush on lovely Cara since she was a rookie. He has waited for the right time to reveal his feelings. Now that a vicious rapist and killer is after her, he wants nothing more than to protect her and keep her safe. But Cara is no clinging vine. She fights his every attempt to protect her as she seeks to satisfy her need for revenge. He finally resorts to sex to attempt to slow her down and keep her distracted. This is a tough, gritty story giving a stark picture of police work, the dangers inherent in dealing with a wily criminal and the twisted motives of a true psychopath. There is plenty of action, both in the efforts to capture this dangerous fiend and in the bedroom when Luke puts his moves on Cara, but with a strong plot line tying it all together. I found Luke a bit immature in his thoughts and behavior to be a police chief, but otherwise he was a good hero, certainly sexy enough! Cara was sympathetic and very believable. For me, the juxtaposition of lusty, sizzling sex and violent crime did not work well. Glimpses of the killer�s twisted thoughts and the ugly violence segued into steamy scenes between Luke and Cara with hardly a break These transitions were too abrupt, leaving me inadequate time to switch emotional gears. However, for those who enjoy the roller coaster effect of violent action enlivened with hot sex, Stalking Cara is well done and never slows down from the first paragraph to the last. |

Her escape has been noticed and the hospital sends guards after her! She begs Marcos to not let them take her back and Marcos senses there is something else behind her fear of the institute. What he discovers is that he can help ease her pain but the voices remain�.and he knows why! How much should he tell her and how much should he let her find out on her own? Imagine my surprise when the author portrayed Marcos exactly as I had pictured him � alpha yet so sensitive and caring. YUMMY!!! Cybele was very well written, also. After her stay in the hospital, she discovers she�s a strong person who can handle most anything�.except being kept from the man she loves! This can be read as a stand alone or it can be read following THE ORDER OF THE DRAGON but whatever you do, read it!! You won�t regret it! |
