They head the land tribes made of varied species. But they are unaware that beneath the waves, another set of fathers have developed species in order to kill and destroy. When a centaur is killed by an unknown creature, a mer-man named Sharky, it sets off a cycle of events when the land creatures must prepare for war. They capture the mer-man, who has discovered his mate was purposely killed, and he becomes a father of a new race of mer-creatures. Together they form and train for the upcoming battle. Meanwhile, Adam and Evan continue their passionate relationship from Paradise Earth 1, and love keeps them strong for the trials ahead. This second installment sets up a huge amount of possibilities with the series. So much goes on in a brief amount of time due to a fast growth hormone. Some of the characters are born, grow, mature and die within a matter of a week. Others have a year life-span, and several generations of creatures have come to pass in the time Adam and Evan from the first installment. While this is a good sequel to the continuing saga, it wasn�t as good as the first. Perhaps the books would have been better if the main focus was on entirely Sharky instead of splitting between him, and Adam and Evan, this reviewer would have found the entire story more engrossing. He appears at Justine�s cabin a few days later leading his injured horse. Despite the fact she lives alone, Justine takes pity on the stranger and allows him and his horse the use of her stable while the horse recuperates. More sensual than erotic, this story weaves a gentle mystery around the characters and the mountains. It is primarily a love story as two people who would never have met in normal circumstances come together in the beautiful yet remote location. Not a fast-paced book, the plot unfolds gradually and smoothly � a perfect accompaniment to the haunting mood. �Skipping Heaven� provides a sweet romance between intriguing characters. I very much enjoyed this highly sensual book, and can recommend it as a very pleasant evening�s reading. |
