Get Up and Bar The Door- Courtesy of Kim J.

Time Period - Mideval

Dramatic Situation/Overview: Husband and wife are in their house on a windy night. Neither of them wants to bar the door (the wife is busy doing chores) so they decide that whoever speaks first has to do it. 2 strangers come into the house, eat all the goodman and goodwifes food, and talk about taking off the man's beard and kissing the goodwife. The goodman speaks first and his goodwife tells him to up and bar the door.

Theme - Stubborness can get you into trouble. The man and woman's stubborness caused them to allow strangers into their home. People (in this case, married people) fight no matter what century it is.

Quotes - "They could see neither house nor hall, nor coal nor candlelight."

"And first they ate the white puddings/and then they ate the black."

Form - Ballad
