| James I of England VI of Scotland |
| James I of England and VI of Scotland was both June 19, 1566 to Mary, Queen of Scots, and Henry Stuart, also known as Lord Darnley. Henry was crowned King of Scotland in 1961 at Stirling, at the age of 1. His mother was accused of murdering Lord Darnley and was forced to abdicate the throne to James. Mary was convicted of conspiring against her half-sister, Queen Elizabeth I of England, and was executed in 1587. On February 14, 1587 Elizabeth sent a letter to James apologizing for some misunderstandings surrounding Mary's death. |
