Hell's Journey Through

Brick by brick you built the fortress
			The protective shield
			You use religion
			You hide behind your god
			Your sacred books
			Your shiny places of worship
For hell is a mysterious entity
Used to frighten children and well adjusted adults
A weapon with no form but tangible in your mind
			Never understanding
			Never seeing
			Always afraid
			Envisioning firery pits
			And never ending pair

			I've been there

But there isn't any firery pit
			Cold seeps inside deep
Unable to shiver or even move
			Darkness stifles your thoughts
			Steals all perception and sight
			There isn't never ending pain
			Soon indifference cements you whole
			Never caring about life
			Not even death

I have been in your nightmares
			Resided in your fears
			And I have pulled through

			No more afraid
			No longer wondering
			I've seen light and dark
			Felt coldness and warmth

			Now I'm here
			At peace with the past
			Battle scarred and bruised
			A little more wiser

			And a lot more happier
