Brethern National Youth Conferance 2000

II Timothy 2:15
"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth."

This was my first year going to BNYC, and it was soooo awsome. I had many preconceived ideas of what it would be like, from my friends last year who went. But I wasn't expecting it to compleatly blow me out of the water!!! The Bus ride up was five uneventful (thank goodness) hours. We rode up in a lakefrount bus, with four people from Mount Gilliad, and what we refered to as the "Washington People" since we didn't know them at all. We got to the University of Pittsburg Johnstown, and registered for our stay. After that we went to our hotel and checked in. After getting settled in the hotel we all went back to UPJ for our "opening rally" it was so awsome imagine a tent filled with 2,500 young people who's hearts desire is to grow closer to God...awsome huh??

first speaker was Ed Lewis, and he talked about getting ready for "the test" It was a pretty humbling expriance. He asked us to stand up if we believed that Jesus was the son of God, so most people stood up, then he said if you can't think of a place in the Bible that backs it up, then sit down...well down I went, I couldn't think of a verse in the Bible off the top of my head where...then he asked two more questions that I couldn't think of answers, it was humbling to realize that I claimed to be a Christian, yet couldn't remember any verses to back up what I said I believed. After the first service ended, we had half-time...that's just time where you can hang out, and visit with your friends. After that we had Late night...another service a man by the name of Barry St.Clair spoke after late night we went back to our hotel, had our counseler groups, then crashed.

sunday we woke up at the ungodly hour of 6:30 in the morning. After getting ready we went over to the university, and ate breakfast. Then we went to morning session with Barry St. Clair again. After the service we had what we called an "Hour alone with God" this was where we spent an hour reading our bibles and just talking to God. Then came lunch, then our training tracks. I attened the training track called what the Bible teaches about... after the training tracks we had free time. I spent my free time doing the Daily Community Outreach& training program. It taught you about evangalism, then you went out and put into practice what you just learned. We went to nurcing homes, and sang with them, talked to them, and told them the good news of Jesus Christ. It was during that trip that I met Levi...dude...he is the coolest guy. I ended up spending the rest of the week with him. After we got back to campus we went to dinner then the evening session. That evening at the session Greg Speck spoke...dude he is sooo funny...but increadably good. And he reminded me of the courdly lion on the Wizered of Oz!!! After the evening session we had our district youth groups, this was planing for the Blitz. After our district meeting we had half time, which I spent hanging out with my friends. After the half time we had to concert of prayer...I always love those things. After the concert of prayer we went back to our rooms had our cousler meetings then went to bed.

The next day we skipped breakfast, then went to the morning session. Greg Speck was again the speaker. He talked about the effectiveness of the Bible. After morning session we had lunch then training tracks. After the training tracks Levi and I again went to the Community outreach. On this trip to the nursing home two people got saved...aswome huh???? When we got back we went to dinner, then had evening session. After evening session we had youth group meetings, then half time, which I spent with Levi and Mel a girl I met on the way up here. Basically that's was how the weeks was spent, it was so compleatly awsome, and life changing. During my community outreach thing I did everyday a total of twenty-eight old people who were on the verge of death became saved...it was so encouraging...and still is encouraging to know that we will see them again...probably not on this side of eternity though...we will be seeing them in Heaven!!!
