My favorite children's author is Mercer Mayer. Mayer is best known for his Little Critter books. His books are enjoyable because they are brightly illustrated with simple, educational plots. Each of Mayer's books addresses different messages of growing up. Whatever the issue, the Little Critter's problems are always resolved in the end. I can remember reading many of these books when I was younger. Aside from the Little Critter series, Mayer is well known for his monster stories, such as There's a Nightmare in my Closet and There's Something in my Attic. I also enjoyed reading Mayer's frog series, with books like Frog on His Own and Frog, Where Are You? These books will be forever cherished in my heart, because they made my early reading years an enjoyable experience. I think all children should be exposed to Mayer's books as they help children to grow and accept change and overcome our fears. |
