Favorite Children's Book
As a Child
My favorite children's book as a child is Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown.  Growing up, my parents would always read this book to me before bed.  There were even times when my mom would suggest another bedtime story, but I could never fall asleep without reading this story.  Goodnight Moon is a timeless classic.  It is the story of a little rabbit saying goodnight to all the familiar things in his softly lit room.  While there is no true plot to the story, I used to love imitating the rabbit by saying goodnight to the objects in my own room.  The soft, rhythmic language and the warm pictures would help me fall asleep.  I would always look for objects in the rabbits great green room that the author failed to mention.  Though the illustrations are quiet and soothing, I always felt a part of the room.  I plan to read this story to my own kids in hopes that it will lull them to sleep the way it did me.
