Green Eyes and Blue
In the darkened light of creation I sit,
And remember the ones I loved, still love, lost,
And those who linger achingly and remain
Heavy in the night.

Such a tender feeling floods me; I see her:
Shyly daring, soft, sweet, wild and dangerous.
Dreaming red geraniums, she kisses me and
Fades to monochrome.

Memories which cant be trusted are weeping.
Theyre showing me soft lips, entangled limbs,
Bitter tears, and I find myself wishing for
Her warm hand to hold.

Throughout the years I realize my friend would stay,
Yet never mine, and under this blue expanse
Of sky, sea and immeasurable distance,
Her melody sings.

A softer time was ours, vibrant and pure,
Unmarked by the uncertainty of dead hopes,
Before I was touched by any man or blade.
We were forever.

Enough joy, rage, and dreams to last a lifetime
And even through these tortured tears, they remain
With no mist to blur, nor love to deny, as
Green eyes turn to blue.
