Some Things Never Change
One night

Hunter hung up, and then pocketed his cell phone, turning to face his DX friends. However, while he had been talking, a group of women had sidled up them, and X-Pac, Billy, and Jesse were all busily trying to impress them. Mat-rats. Hed had his fill of them, and wanted no more.

He shook his head. Though, some things never change, he thought to himself, walking towards them. The four of them were having a guys night out, a little DX reunion of sorts.

Coincidentally, there were also four women. The tallest of them, her legs seeming to go on forever, looked over at him as he approached. She had straight auburn hair, loose over her shoulders, and her dark green eyes watches his every move. Her almost obscenely erotic full lips curved into a welcoming smile, yet on her it was stunning.

Hunter couldnt help the smile back, despite his earlier thought of her. Hey.

Was that your wife on the phone? she asked coyly, her eyes almost daring him to say yes.

No, he lied, before he even knew what he was saying. He quickly slipped his wedding ring off his finger, glad to have kept his hand in his jacket pocket.

She smiled, nodding. Wonderful. Though, something in her eyes made him think that she knew he was lying.

But Hunter pushed all thoughts of Stephanie away, his grin widening. Besides, do I look like someone whod want to be tied down to a family?

Stephanie stared at the strip of paper in front of her. It was blue. Blue.

A large smile lit up her face, and she felt her heart begin to race. Oh my god! Im pregnant! she screamed happily.

Hunter was going to love it. They had been trying to have a baby for the past two months, and finally

Finally, they were pregnant. With a baby. All of their own.

Finally, they were going to be a family.

Next morning

Honey, I just love the perfume youre wearing, Stephanie said flatly. What is it? The new one by Elizabeth Arden?

Hunter felt his heart drop as he slowly turned around to face his wife. He forced a smile, hoping no trace of his guilt was showing. Hey, baby!

She looked closely at him. You goddamn liar, she said in a quiet voice, but a hard tone. It is true. How could you do this to me?

His smile wavered slightly as his heart beginning to pound hard against his ribcage. How could she have found out so quickly? Maybe it was something else totally unrelated to last night? Do what?

Everyone was right about you, Stephanie replied, her voice cracking slightly as her eyes clouded with pain. I should have kept our relationship strictly business. I should never have trusted you, should never have believed your promises. I should never have fallen in-

She broke off, shaking her head. I was wrong about you.

Hunter had never regretted anything more in his life than his actions the previous night. Steph, wait, he started, the sudden thought of losing her making him feel ill. I can explain!

My mother once told me to never get involved with a wrestler, she said with a bitter laugh. How right she was. Stephanie stared at him. I guess some things never change, huh?
