Crush

"Hey Amy, me and some of the guys are going out to this new club tonight, wanna come with?" Amy looked up from her magazine and into the deep, soulful eyes of Matt Hardy, her stomach doing mad flip-flops as she watched his luscious mouth turn up into a sexy smile. Forcing what she hoped looked like a nonchalant expression onto her face, Amy shook her head and silently willed her voice not to shake.

"Nah, Im really tired. I think Ill just go back to the hotel and hang out with myself for a while. Maybe next time though." Matt nodded his head and then flashed her a small smile.

"All right then, I guess Ill see you later. Have fun Ames." Amy smiled at him and gave him a thumbs up.

"Same goes for you, Mr. Hardy. Stay outta trouble now, ya hear?" Matt laughed and then headed back out the door, waving over his shoulder at her. Once he was out of sight, a huge sigh of relief gushed from Amys body and her shoulders slumped tiredly - It was getting harder and harder to hide her feelings for him.

Setting her magazine down and grabbing up her duffel bag, Amy headed out to the parking lot and over to her rental car, anxious to get to her room and relax.

Once she was on the road and going in the right direction, Amy reached over and flipped on the radio, a little dismayed when she realized that it was stuck on a Country station. About to switch it off again, her fingers stopped mid air as the words reached her ears. Amy left it on and continued driving.

Deep in Denialville
Tryin a fight the way I feel
I go jello when you smile
I start blushin - my head rushin

If you stand too close to me
I might melt down from the heat
If ya look my way one more time
Im gonna go out of my mind
Whatever you do

Dont even think about it!
Dont go and get me started!
Dont you dare drive me crazy!
Dont do that to me baby!

You stop me in my tracks
My heart pumpin to the max
Im such a sucker for your eyes
They permanently paralyze
Whatever you do

By the time Amy got to the hotel, she had turned the volume up to full blast and was singing along with the words, their meaning all to familiar to what she was feeling for Matt. Even after the song was finished she was still humming to herself softly as she made her way up to her room. Throwing her bag down on the floor, Amy got undressed and slipped into a pair of little shorts and a sports bra before flopping down onto the bed and flipping on the little light beside her bed.

Grabbing up her favorite book, "The Lord of the Flies", Amy settled under the covers and began reading. Not even two chapters into it her eyes began drooping and the words on the pages started to become blurry.
She fell asleep less than ten minutes later, her thoughts straying subconsciously to the dark-haired man shed fallen in love with months earlier but was too afraid to do anything about it. In her dreams echoed the song shed been listening to in the car

************
Matt sighed and finished off the last of his drink, his eyes moving restlessly to the dance floor where everyone was bumping and grinding to the music. Everyone but him.

He just couldnt seem to get into the mood for it, everyone had a partner but him. It wasnt like he hadnt had any offers though - quite the contrary, hed been asked to dance about ten zillion times since hed set foot through the door, and each time hed politely refused and went back to his drink. What the hell was wrong with him?

Matt knew what was wrong with him - it wasnt that he didnt want to dance, he just didnt want to dance if it couldnt be with her. Her. Amy.

Hed been disappointed earlier when shed declined his offer to come with him, but he had to admit that she really had looked tired and probably needed a good sleep instead of going out to a club. That still didnt make him feel any less lonely though

"Hey bro! Stop sitting there like a bump on a log and get your ass out here! Dance man, dance!" Matt smiled weakly at his younger brother but shook his head firmly, causing the rainbow-haired Hardy to groan in frustration and focus his attention back onto his dance partner, Molly Holly.

A quick scan of the room told Matt that all his buddies were paired up and dancing hard to the music that beat out from the large speakers. Adam was dancing with Stacy, Jay with Joanie, Paul and Steph, Scotty with Trish He was the only one by himself.

Ordering another drink, Matt closed his eyes and lay his head on the table, wishing that he was back at the hotel hanging out with Amy instead of being stuck a loud and crowded night club.

I would dial the numbers
Just to listen to your breath
I would stand inside my hell
And hold the hand of death

You dont know how far Id go
To ease this precious ache
You dont know how much Id give
Or how much I can take

Matt lifted his head up off the table and started listening closer to the words, their meaning hauntingly familiar to what he felt for Amy.

Dont care what they think
I dont care what they say
What do they know about this love anyway

Suddenly, Matt had to get out of there. Jumping up from his chair, he quickly grabbed up his coat and started stalking towards the exit, yelling over to Jeff that he was leaving. Jeff shot him a strange look but continued dancing, obviously not interested enough in Matts affairs to leave his partner.

Matt wasted no time in jumping in his car and driving back to the hotel, his mind racing almost as fast as his car. Once he was in the parking lot, he quickly shut off the engine and ran into the building, causing several of the hotel employees to stare at him curiously. Matt ignored them and ran right past.
Not wanting to wait for an elevator, Matt bounded up the stairs, taking them two at a time until he got to his floor. He skidded to a halt outside of Amys door and raised his hand up to knock, not even bothering to catch his breath first. His fist was just about to connect with the wood when suddenly, he froze.

"What the hell am I doing?" He whispered to himself, letting his hand drop to his side. Sighing heavily, Matt leaned his forehead quietly against the door and closed his eyes, cursing himself for being such a fool. What if she was sleeping? What if she didnt feel the same? What if?

Matt straightened his back and pulled away from the door, his mind on fire as he trudged on over to his and Jeffs room - right next door to Amys. Angrily swiping his key card in the lock and letting the door swing open, Matt sighed and headed straight for the bed, flopping down onto it and burying his head beneath the pillow.

"Matty boy, youre a fearless daredevil in the ring and yet you cant even tell the girl youre in love with her" Matt derided himself. Keeping his head under the pillow, Matt reached out with one arm and flicked off the lamp, plunging the room into darkness. Five minutes later he was dozing off into unconsciousness, one last thought on his mind.

"Im pathetic"
