Better Man

Notes: This is what I think wouldve happened if a certain person hadnt returned at the same time as a certain break up occurred. (Most of you know who I mean. If not, you probably shouldnt bother reading this.

Dedication: For JTG for being such a Pearl Jam fanatic and general sweetheart. (Next time you get free front row tickets you little shit, TAKE THEM if only so you can take lots of photos for me! Otherwise Im not gonna visit you when you come to Melbourne *crossing arms and stamping foot*)

Waiting, watching the clock. It's four o'clock.

It's got to stop. Tell him. Take no more.

Anxiously glancing at a clock that tells her the last bar shut over 3 hours ago. She's had enough, first thing tomorrow she's packing her bags and leaving.

She practices her speech as he opens the door, she rolls over.

Pretends to sleep as he looks her over.

She knows exactly what she'll be telling him, it plays in her mind like a scene from television. She's thought about it enough times, now it's time to put it into practice. A cold bolt of fear slices through her as a sliver of light cuts through the room, signaling his return. She turns away in fear as he studies her carefully.

She lies and says she's in love with him. Can't find a better man.

She dreams in color, she dreams in red. Can't find a better man.

Can't find a better man.

She keeps saying she loves him, that way she may believe it herself one day. Vivid memories of blood spilt from her body at his hands. Even in sleep there is no escape from the nightmare existence.

Ohh...

Talking to herself, "There's no one else who needs to know," she tells herself.

Delusions that what is happening isn't obvious. When asked, she denies it. Offers for help and support are rejected, trying to convince others as well as herself that nothing is wrong. Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.

Oh...

Memories back when she was bold and strong and waiting for the world to come along.

It seems so long ago. A woman who took no crap from anyone. Especially not a boyfriend. Where did that woman go? What happened to her? She's caught in a tangled web of what she believes is her own making.

Swears she knew him now she swears he's gone.

The man she knew is dead. In his place is an abusive bum. Where did the sweet romantic man who made her feel special go? Maybe he never existed. Maybe she did something to drive him away.

She lies and says she still loves him. Can't find a better man.

She dreams in color, she dreams in red. Can't find a better man.

Can't find a better man.

Yeah.

She loved him, yeah. She don't want to leave this way.

She did love him, once upon a time. Before all the bullshit started. She made the biggest mistake of her life in leaving Chris. She knows it now, but believes it's too late to do anything about it.

She feeds him, yeah. That's why she'll be back again.

What it all comes down to though, is that Eddie needs Chyna. And she is a woman who needs to be needed. Thats why she lasted so long with DX. Thats why she remained with Hunter till he ditched her. And that's why, no matter what happens, Chyna will never leave Eddie for good.
