We don't use a "daily limit", so you did nothing wrong.
Here's how we deal with forum flooding:

There has to be at least 10 new topics, before you are allowed a new topic.....for example:
- You post a movie wich is on topic 05, you have another movie.....than post it as a reply to topic 05
- You post a movie wich is on topic 11, you have another movie.....than you can post a new topic
