In which Something Else is Accomplished.

You stare at the image of Yosannah...

You have established contact with Yosannah.

To the image of Yosannah, Lisle stands somewhere in Kryonia, a place with houses, smiling faintly. "Yosannah. Feel like making something?"

The image of Yosannah offers the Princess a crooked smile, "You've had a chance to return to the Academy then I take it."

To the image of Yosannah, Lisle says, "Yes indeed. Though I am in Kryonia now. We shall become 12 year old girls and walk into the Lounge the back way."

The image of Yosannah says "The back way?"

To the image of Yosannah, Lisle says, "Yes. A little short cut through shadow. Out of Kyronia, then in again, this time directly into the Lounge.

The image of Yosannah dips her chin in a nod, understanding, "Ahh, yes." She extends her hand, meaning to come through the contact to Lisle's location, "If you're ready then..."

You offer to pull Yosannah through.

Landen - Residential District(#12288RCJL) The area of the city you now stand in is known primarily to the people of Landen as the Residential District. Here, the homes of the majority of Landen's residents are built - smaller than those of the more elaborate areas of town, yet they still hold a certain grace. Most are constructed of high quality wood or stone, and painted quite nicely to give a more 'quaint' atmosphere. There are precious few shops here, though scattered throughout are haphazardly placed inns and taverns as always, drawing in a few, regular customers. With the arrival of the night stars and descension of the sun, the streets darken as well as the sky. Relatively few people stray outside the comfort of their homes, most already asleep quickly after dusk. A few people do remain out and about, though some of them it might be best to avoid.

Yosannah grasps your hand and you pull her through.

Yosannah has arrived.

Yosannah inspects their surroundings immediately upon her arrival. Satisfied, she inquiers, "Do you recall a man called Dreltar from the other night?"

Lisle brings Yosannah through. They are standing, under the stars, in front of a house of stone. Lisle says, "We'll go in this house first. It will be mine in two seconds." Her hand on the doorknob, she pauses before opening it. "Yes. The Thanlis."

Lisle enters the house. It seems, perhaps, a bit larger than it did on the outside. She waits to close the door behind Yosannah. "Oh, you can never trust those soul eaters," she shudders. "Jackals, the lot of them, and that Magnus is always after his own self serving interests."

Yosannah gives a final, disconcerting glance out the doorway before it closes and they are secured within the residence, "Mmm." She looks about the home, "You're going to walk us from here to there, is that the idea?"

Lisle says, "Yes, but first a little glamour. How about young girls? Or maybe that is not such a good idea with so many Chaosians about the place."

Yosannah says "Whatever you think is best, Lisle." A light chuckle, "Your plan, your call."

Lisle says, "I also have two parts of the coil already hanging. Or hanging as much as they can hang. This is a good place for it." A hand lifts in the air, a transluscent square in its palm. Half a dozen glyphs simmer translucently in the air. She reaches for that one, and one just like it. As she does so the little box disappears.

Lisle throws one at Yosannah's feet, another at her own.

The item spins for a moment at Yosannah's feet. She regards the item with a critical eye, "An elemental strand, yes. Like the one that served as a folcrum for Lunaria. But different." Her gaze looks for Lisle's, "But how?"

Lisle says, "No no, that is another hanging spell. Put your foot on it and break it. We'll have an hour of being young girls. Oh, twelve. Pigtails and all.

Lisle puts her heel on the ball at her feet, and is, as a consequence, encased in a blud void of light and sparkle.

Slowly, features darken, the form reduces to small -- at least Lisle's appearance does. She's a short, round, brunette with braces.

Yosannah smiles, "Ahh, you're full of surprises tonight. All right then." The heel of her boot comes down atop the item and she is suddenly shrouded in a blue fountain of light. Within the sparkle her form seems to shrink.

Until...

A gawky child, thin and stringy, glasses slipping at the end of her nose stands where the auburn hair sorcerous once stood.

Lisle fakes a high voice, "Ready? I think we need names. How about Sally and Betsy?"

Yosannah looks down at her narrow form. "My gosh," she squeaks, no fake, "look at me!"

Lisle reaches for Yosannah's hand, "Come on Sally. We have to be quick. And I'm going to walk fast."

Yosannah stumbles after the roly-poly girl, "Right, right... uh... Betsy."

The hallway changes, visibly. In fact Lisle is running just fine, and fast, and that might look on a roly poly little girl, with dark pigtails flying behind her. She seems quite determined.

After a time, it takes on signs of the Moon corridor, but plainly it isn't quite the real thing.

Yosannah creases form about the scrawny girl's brow. She is clearly disoriented but seems able to easily keep pace with her companion.

Sometimes distant noises stir, perhaps the wind, but eventually, eventually the room takes shape.

You prepare to use your Pattern Imprint to move through Shadow.

You begin to add your desires to this place, subtracting that which is incompatible.

The Recreation Room - Academy Of Magic(#12436RJh)

It would appear that this room of the Academy is used for the relaxation of instructors and students alike. It is octagonal in design - large and open, with high arched ceilings. The white marble walls are adorned with various pictures and arcane symbols. Throughout the chamber are placed small pedestals, each holding moderate artifacts of the past within their enchanted glass cases.

Positioned directly across the room from the door is a short marble-topped bar, serving a wide variety of local drinks. A few tables of differing sizes, comfortable looking chairs, and several couches lined either with velvet or satin are scattered throughout the room, adding to the overall pleasant atmosphere. A single chandelier hangs high overhead, casting its magical glow over everything constantly.

Shadows finally assume the form you desire.

Yosannah has arrived.

Yosannah moves toward you, growing more defined as she approaches.

Lisle may be a tad breathless, but she lets go of Yosannah's hand, and intakes a breath. "We must be swift.

It is late. The magical glow of the chandelier casts a dim yet warm light over the room.

Yosannah peers about the empty room. She cringes lightly at the gaping hole where the marble bar once stood. "Well, they picked up some of the furniture," she peeps. "When we're done, we should really try and find the bar."

Yosannah says "You're right though, they'll sense us soon enough I'm sure. Let's go."

Lisle says, "Yes, we'll find the bar later. "

Lisle is already working with spells, the same box in her hand. There are only four glyphs left.

Yosannah extends her hand, gaze distant. There is a rainbow shimmer about her fingers and a sudden jolt. In her hand, her trump case. She opens it and thumbs through the tarots, eyes drifting to Lisle here and there, waiting.

Lisle has already pulled down two glyphs, which she puts together. In fact, they are translucent -- and transparent enough that when she slides them together you can see the one inside the other. She says, in a high girlish voice, "I sure hope this works." Curls of smoke rise. Smoke? Not smoke, curls of water rise, spiral waves that roll toward the ceiling.

Lisle says, "Huh," lifting her eyes to look upward. As if she hadn't planned that.

Lisle, to Yosannah, "Maybe we should bind your strand to mine a bit earlingers dancing, intricate patterns forming in the empty space before her and over the tarot in her hand. "All right." Her glasses slip down the length of her nose. Is that scotch tape on the bridge?

Lisle reaches out for the two strands, which are still producing water. The effect is not unlike a kid trying to reach through a stream of water to a sprinkler. Except the stream of water is as powerful as waterhose. She screws up her round face, but gets it. Two strands alright, but their composition is difficult to tell.

Yosannah is intent on her work though her gaze is distracted for a moment as she quickly inspects Lisle's work. Her brow tightens and she sniffles as the third stand materializes in her hand. The tarot is gone, perhaps lost in the nimbus of activity. She carries the single strand to Lisle and lifts it into the air so that they both might see, "For you, Lisle."

Lisle brings her watery pair toward Yosannah's single strand. This takes some effort, for a pudgy 12 year old girl, her brow creases as she brings them together. And then?

Yosannah grins, stupidly and claps her hands together, "We've done it, Lisle! And it should be named for your work." Her skinny legs bend at the knees and she jumps into the air, giddy, the way little girls often do, "Shimmering and glimmering waters. A starburst in the night sky, isn't it beautiful? We'll call her **********."

As the strands coil about one another the water that floats about the ceiling goes still and there is a silent pause about the girls. And then, a rush:

"Swish... wooosh."

The water dumps down the walls and over the little women.

Yosannah lifts her hands over her head and a feable effort to shield herself from the downpour of liquid.

At first, of course, Lisle is delighted as the strands come together. But the water causes a childish wail, "Oh no! C'mon, let's go. Do you have Estella?" Just checking of course.

Yosannah holds the item up, a blue stone at its center that unites the strands shimmers in the pale light of the chandelier, "Got it!" Her hair drips and she pushes her glasses up her nose with a finger, "Let's go!"

Lisle puts her hand in Yosannah's, provided its offered, as if Lisle expects Yosannah to be the metaphorical getaway car.

Yosannah's gaze goes tight and focused... in a moment, they begin to shimmer...

Gideon Club - Study(#1192RJL)

Posh, though casually and comfortably furnished. This room sits at the front corner of the mansion. Windows are placed such that there is an expansive view of the property. A fireplace is located at the far wall and before it rests a large sofa and a coffee table. The table is cluttered with a few hard-cover books, several magazines and a silver dinner tray which may have once held cheese, crackers and pepperoni but now holds crumbs and a sharp hunting knife. Two lanterns glow softly over a small bar which is obviously of the 'help yourself' variety. A closed doorway is located to one side of the bar and an archway leading out into the hall at the other. Additional furniture is scattered appropriately about the study: a recliner and footstool here, an easy chair and end-table over there. One is easily put at ease in a place such as this.

Stone

Billiard Room Hall

Stone is standing, fixing himself a fresh can of Diet Coke.

Two young girls appear in the study, drenched from head to tow. One a round, plump little thing, the other a scrawny, waif who is forced to push her scotch-taped glasses up her nose. The second one mutters at the sight of Stone, "Ut oh."

The round one says, "Oh -no-," in a slightly whining voice.

Stone looks to the two of you, "Hello." he greets curiously.

The round one glances at the skinny one. She says, "Ah. Just looking around!" The water making her blink myopically.

The scrawny girl turns away from Stone and to her friend, nose wrinkling, "I 'spose I should have looked before I got us here." Shoulders shrug, "Sorry." She clutches a metal band in her fingers.

The round one says, her voice wavering between the childish and familiar, "That's Ok, how could you know Benjamin would be here?"

Stone looks back and forth between the two of you. He tilts his head, asking the round one, "Do we know each other?"

The skinny waif's form begins to waiver. Like looking through a ripple of water to the other side where a woman of average build and auburn hair can be seen. Her voice is familiar as well, "Stone, you're slipping, buddy."

The round one slims and lengthen's, the muddy pigtails transformed to golden spun flaxen, as the glamour gives way. It is Lisle's voice, "Yes, I should say so."

Stone looks to the skinny one and then towards Lisle. He grins, "Neat trick."

Lisle is in fact, still soaked to the skin.

Yosannah's form materializes, replacing that of the waif with the taped glasses. She too is soaked to the bone, hair matted over her eyes. She makes a meek effort at swiping the auburn waves from her face. "All Lisle's doing. Great spell if you ask me."

Lisle is making an (attractive) puddle in the floor. Her eyes flash, alive with feeling, "It was a great spell, I wonder if we can hang your kind of magic, too, Yosannah. I should show you what I know about it. Imagine what it might be like -next- time." Elated. Definitely damp.

Stone looks back and forth, "What were you guys up to?" he asks curiously.

Yosannah slides her gaze to Stone and she responds to Lisle's suggestion, "I have never given it much thought." To Stone she offers, "We... are experimenting." She nods as if this should explain everything.

Lisle curls a strand of soaked hair around one ear, saying, "Exactly. Experimenting."

Stone nods, "Ah. Well, sounds fun at least." he grins, "So this is a safe spot if something evil follows you home, hmm?"

Lisle says, "Oh there was no evil. Just a little water."

Lisle, asides to Yosannah, "I hadn't expected -so much-."

Yosannah hops on one foot, hand still clutched about the item, in an effort to dislodge water from her ear, "Me either."

Stone ohs, "Went swimming then?"

Yosannah nods, "Yeah, we were looking for Nemo. Don't suppose you've seen him?"

Lisle says, "Yes. Nemo." then to Yosannah, "Why don't you give it a try first.

Long distance to everyone in the room: Lisle too, shortly :>

Yosannah offers, hushed, though no doubt Stone can hear, "Did you want to swap? I don't have it left in me to ... experiment anymore tonight."

Stone just watches you two curiously.

Lisle says, "No no, you keep it. We'll regroup in a day or two. I am tired also."

Lisle fishes in her wet coat pocket for a trump.

Yosannah nods at Lisle and retreats, backwards, toward the hallway. No further explainations are offered for STone's benefit though she does give him a wink and a smile before darting off.

Left behind, a puddle and several footprints across the carpet.

Yosannah goes out into the hall.

Yosannah has left.

Lisle says, "Good night Benjamin," smiling so that dimples show, as if she's fond of him. Then she studies her own card.

Stone waves and grins as you depart.

As you stare at the image before you, it slowly becomes more real.

Main Hall

The cathedral-like vaulted ceilings of this 40 by 100 yard chamber are barely visible in the light provided by the by the torches which are spaced evenly along the wall in wrought iron sockets. A spiral staircase of the same material and similar design rises up in the center of the room, away from the mosaics which consist entirely of black and white tiles set in dizzying abstract patterns. In the center of each of the nearly bare walls is an exit. To the south is the guarded iron gate leading into Amber City. To the East are the guarded steel double doors which lead to the Great Hall. To the west are more double doors made of a rich, golden, burnished wood. To the north is a single, unguarded, wooden grey door.
