Mammoth Cave:  This limestone cavern in central Kentucky, USA, is the longest cave system in the world.  Cave area is about 10 mi. in diameter but has 345 mi. of irregular susbterranean passageways at various levels, plus underground lakes and rivers.

HEMINGWAY'S HOUSE, FLA - National Historic Landmark
By 1905, the Henry Flagler 's railroad pressed south, bridging hundreds of islands between Miami and Key West.  During the 7 year construction, 5  hurricanes threatened to halt the project.  Despite the hardships, the railway was completed in 1912.  Flagler died in 1913.  Some 30 years after his death, a part of his overseas railroad connection was washed away by a storm with trains of passengers on board.
