Two Years in Paradise!
Hi Jen!

Welcome to Santa Barbara, UCSB Hillel and the senior JCSC Fellowship!  I hope youre excited about starting your second year as a JCSC Fellow and look forward to the challenges and adventures that await you.

UCSB Hillel is an amazing place with lots going on every day of the week at all hours of the day.  Youll find that if youre in the office early to work on a project, youll see people.  Most likely, these people will be Josh and Steve who both like to get in around 8:30AM.  (By no means should you feel obligated to join them that early in the morning.)  And, if youre here late at night, youll still have people to interact with, because students keep the building open until midnight.  There are programs almost every day of the week which include things such as Kosher Cookouts, Shabbat, visiting rabbis, comedians, programming meetings, minyans, classes, social programs, and anything else YOU want to add into the calendar.  Take this year to bring your creative energy to the front of the picture and use your ideas both in, but mostly OUT of the Hillel building.

I hope youll also find that being a senior fellow is just really a lot of fun.  You know the ropes of the fellowship, you understand what meeting them where theyre at really means, you have some friends who will be fellows with you for a second year, and you get to try all the things you didnt get to do last year.  Itll be different for you being at a new campus, but use what you learned from last year to make this year just as great.

On this website youll find information about people, places, the UCSB campus, the students, the routines, the cycle of the year, Jewish learning, California adventures and other random things I thought you might find helpful.  Im also going to be only a phone call away working for the Jewish Community Relations Council as one of your partners in the College Campus Initiative (youll read about this).  Please stay in touch, let me know how things are going, and dont hesitate to call me with any questions.

All the best for a great year in Santa Barbara!
