I would like to thank you for choosing to place your child in Lisa’s Home Daycare! Because I will be responsible for the most precious person in your life, I would like to take the time to tell you about me and some of my policies for the daycare.
Following are some of the policies that I have in place for Lisa’s Home Daycare. If there is anything at all that is not covered here and that you feel is of interest to your child, please feel free to discuss your ideas with me at any time. I truly want what is best for your child and your input is welcome!
Environment: I have always believed in a positive environment for my own children and this will carry over on a daily basis to your child as well! I tell the children how proud I am of them and how much I love them every day. They will be encouraged in everything they do. This is so important to their emotional growth and well being. Hugs and kisses are also endless around here!
Meals: I will be providing breakfast for those children who arrive before 7:45 a.m. If your child arrives later than this time, please make sure that he/she has a proper breakfast before his/her arrival at Lisa’s Home Daycare. We have a breakfast cabinet that your child may look through and choose from every morning. There is an assortment of cereals, Pop Tarts, oatmeals and breakfast bars. The children may choose whatever they want from the cabinet and have their choice of juice or milk to drink. For lunch everyone has the same nutritiously balanced meal and again have their choice of milk or juice to drink. There will also be an afternoon snack provided. These usually consist of Little Debbie assorted snacks, fruit roll ups, graham crackers, Goldfish, cookies, fruit, etc. If it is close to a holiday or if we have a birthday, our snack will derive from those events.
Daily Activities: Learning and fun/playtime activities will be part of our daily routine here at your child’s daycare. I think this helps the children learn to concentrate, be creative and helps to develop their motor skills, as well as readies them for school. Their work will be displayed in the daycare room or sent home for refrigerators everywhere! The activities will be the same for all children attending daycare, but will be geared toward each child’s age group.
Field Trips: We will be taking weekly field trips to different areas of our community. These will include, but not be limited to: Several area parks, swimming pools, beaches, fast food restaurants, museums, festivals, carnivals, puppet shows, exhibits, farms, etc., as well as various story times each library offers. You will be notified each week of the upcoming field trip.
Transportation:Should your child/children be enrolled in before and after school care at Lisa's Home Daycare, you will need to contact the Piqua Board of Education and the proper paperwork will need to be completed. The Transportation Coordinator is Mr. Jim Daniels @ 773-4321. After the paperwork is completed, I will need to be given a copy for my files.
If your child wishes to ride his/her bike, scooter or walk back to the daycare, I will need advance permission from either parent or guardian. If your child is in a sport or activity, I will ask that you make arrangements to have him/her picked up at daycare and transported to where he/she needs to go, as I will not be providing this type of transportation. Also, my children are all in sports and various activities. There will be times when I will need to direct each parent to a ballfield or school building to retrieve their children. I will limit this to the Piqua Area only for your convenience.
Safety: My home is equipped with properly operating smoke detectors and I have an updated fire extinguisher as well. There are no weapons of any kind in my home. I do allow the children to play with squirt guns and laser tag. All video games are age appropriate and non-violent in nature. Any time the children are outside, they will be properly supervised. There are various children’s web sites that they will be permitted to access through the icons on the desktop of the daycare computer. They will, however, not be permitted to access the Internet for the purpose of chatting. If, at any time, you feel there is a safety issue at Lisa’s Home Daycare that I may not be aware of, please let me know. I would appreciate your bringing any such issue to my attention.
Discipline: I will use the same form of discipline for every child at Lisa’s Home Daycare, which consists of the following: First Warning, Second Warning, Time Out, Removal of Privileges, Phone Call to Parent or Guardian, Removal From Daycare. This system will be applied to each individual incident. I found this method to be very effective with my own children when I was a working parent and I hope it will be with your child as well.
Backup Daycare: I do have backup daycare available to you as an option for the times when I will be unavailable. Should you have the need for this, please feel free to ask for my list of other area providers.
Holidays: Lisa’s Home Daycare will observe the following holidays: New Years Eve, New Years Day, Memorial Day, April 30th, May 19th, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the Friday following, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day. Thank you for allowing me to spend these special days with my family.
Payment Schedule: Payment in full is expected at the end of each week. I would appreciate your understanding of this policy. Your children will benefit from this timely payment schedule, as I will better be able to care for them if the Daycare Budget remains in the black! Any method of payment will be accepted. There will be a $5.00 late fee incurred for each business day that payment is not received. The maximum number of days to be passed without payment is five. After the fifth day, your child will no longer be entitled to daycare services at Lisa’s Home Daycare. Thank you so much for your cooperation in this matter.
Hours of Operation: Lisa’s Home Daycare will be available to you Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Please feel free to phone anytime with concerns or to let me know that your child will not be coming. If I am not here, please leave a message and I will return your call if needed - or if you would prefer, you may e-mail me at [email protected] anytime.
I would also like to encourage parents to call their children at any time during the day. It is so important for them to know that whatever you are doing, you are thinking of them. Also, each child will receive an e-mail address of his /her very own when they come to Lisa’s Home Daycare, so staying in touch online is also an option throughout the day! I will soon be getting a cellular number for use on field trips. I will give you that number as well, as soon as it becomes available.
Newsletter: On Friday I will be sending out our Lisa’s Home Daycare Newsletter, which will be helpful in keeping you in touch with all the latest happenings, help you stay up-to-date on upcoming field trips and activities, as well as serve as a week-in-review for the previous week. I also think this will serve as a good medium for addressing any issues, concerns, problems, etc., that may arise during the week.
I am truly looking forward to being with your child each day and helping him/her become the best little person he/she can possibly be! We will have lots of fun and learn many new things together. I hope to learn as much from your children as I have from my own!
See you in the Daycare Room ………… Lisa
