My Urban Sunrise
by, Lisa Stratton
In the pale dark sky
The orb slowly, patiently creeps to life
Faint at first
Merely more than a flicker
Then distinctive, yet still dim, light
The splendor growing, ever so gradually
Gently awakening to brighten the would be dark sky
Painfully calm in its progression
I eagerly anticipate the glorious finale
Now, almost suddenly, the process is complete
The street light on the corner is on.
