| Pucchimoni Interview March/2001 |
Overview:Yasuda Kei, Goto Maki, Yoshizawa Hitomi-these three girls are part of Pucchimoni, a unit of Morning Musume. They had released a new single titled "Baby! Koininock Out!" Here's an interview w/ the girls , talking about their music. Q: From your previous release "Seishun Jidai 1 2 3! Baiseko- Daiseiko!" it took you guys seven months to release this new single. So tell me, what had changed between those months? Yasuda: Pucchimoni only existed on the radio, but after Yoshizawa joined, I feel that I'm getting so used to us three instead of two that it's natural now. Yoshizawa: I agree with Yasuda. Now there's three of us, I can see the whole of Pucchimoni. Yasuda: So compared to the previous release, I think fans will see more of a complete Pucchimoni. Q: Did you challenge yourself when you were recording this new release? Goto: We all tried to lower our voice a bit singing the song, because this song isn't that girlishi song. It's more of a song that wants to succeed. Yasuda: I thought this song was a speedy song, and I sang it carefully, to feel the tempo, pace, etc. Yoshizawa: I had always been singing in a low pitch, but I think this song is everything but girlish. Goto: I agree. We Pucchimoni would want to challenge ourselves with new things. Yasuda: I don't know what's gonna happen in the future, but the three singles we have released were all happy songs. There were no dark sides to our songs. That's why we pucchimoni would always want to give our fans positive messages. Yoshizawa: That's true. The three releases were all happy songs. That's why I would also want to sing positively. Q: What's this new song about? Yasuda: Something like high school love. Yoshizawa: I think some of the kids in Jr High or high school would wanna do things they can't do. The wonder of why can't we do this? I want to do it! is all in the song. I sometimes feel like that also, so I can really understand this song. Q: How do you feel about this song? Yasuda: When we first heard the song, we were like it's so hard! We thought we couldn't sing it. Recording was such a hard job! Our manager, Tsunku was giving us a lecture and we shouted at him. That was hard too. Goto: When we first heard the song, there weren't any vocals. At that time, I though the song was very interesting. (L) Yoshizawa: First, I though the song was messed up or something, but when I sang it the tempo was so fast that my mouth wouldn't turn properly. (L) Q: When should we hear this song? Yoshizawa: When you have a fight with your mom, you can hear it in your room. There will be less stress, I think. Yasuda: I think it's cool if you dance to the music with your friends. If you didn't succeed doing something, I think this song will help you do better next time. |
