Help! What do these words mean?
* Bourgeois = member of the bourgeoisie. Concerned with money, possessions, social conventions, ect 

Bourgeois is  French in orgin, but was adopted by Karl Marx, a German philosopher,  to describe individuals in the upper-classes of society.

Bourgeoisie = social class of merchants, businessmen, professionals, clerks, etc.; middle class.

Eminently = high in standing or rank.

* Tramping
= travel on foot; walk heavily.

Partridges
= hunting game birds was a popular leisure activity for the upper-class Englishmen.

Little rubber balls = reference to croquet  balls.
