The Island of Capri
Capri Harbour
Nick and I were so up for hill-climbing again, after our trek up Mt Vesuvius before.. so we started up a steep set of steps up the side of the cliff (shown at top of page).. when we got to the top of the steps, however, we found we had a long way to go to get to the top of the Island.  I spotted a "shortcut" veering off to the left of the path, heading alongside a fence up a steep hill... Nick wasn't sure.  So we tossed for it... I won!  Up we went..  half way up the "hill" Nick wasn't feeling too sure about our ascent and pointed out a path leading across and back down the slope.. I saw a way to the top...  so we tossed for it.    I won again!!!  Half an hour or so later.. Nick was panting behind- cursing me for my choice of path, when we finally reached the summit.  Where was the car park?  Where was the dirt track that led to the telephone tower on the top of the hill???.. I though he was going to hit me...  the rain clouds were closing in....
Nick makes it to the top of the hill

Napoli
We spent three days in Naples, when we were in Italy.  After JUST catching the train we arrived at about 9 o'clock in dark, dingey Napoli.. a place, it is recommended, you don't go out in alone at night.  We wandered down dark, litter-strewn streets, past small groups of young men watching as you pass by, lumbering along the uneven, ecobbled streets with your massive, weighty bags... trying to find one of four hostels we knew to be in the viscinity.  We eventually found a bed-sit.. staying in an Italian family's back room.  A lazy Italian family, it has to be said.  Mum, Dad and Grandma just sat in their bath robes infront of what looked like awful day-time Italian tv.. game shows with kareoke-loving transvestites- awful.  Nice enough people though.
Dodging the mopeds!
"Acua bolito per cafe, per favore!"
Our morning cuppa coffee- when we finally braved it and asked for water.  Everywhere seemed to serve hot drinks in plastic cups!
To Roma
