Motivation Checklist


Did you remember to motivate your lesson? Use this checklist as a tool. Read the technique and write the action you will take.

Involve students in learning.
Promotes ownership of the eduation and encourages a student to
pursue his/her own interests. Use games.
Alter levels of physical and mental activity during a lesson.
Develop a listening style.
Listen actively to students. Prepare an educationally motivating environment.
Start where the student is.
Capitalize on the what the student knows and what interests him or her.
Make real world connections.
Make learning meaningful. Include real world anecdotes, examples, relevance, and applications.
Encourage self-evaluation.
Ask students to look at their work critically. Allow them to determine what worked and what didn't and improvements to make next time.
Provide practice on questioning.
Questions are a good lesson starter. Include opportunities for students to develop essential questions about their research. Good questions inspire critical thinking.
Integrate technology.
Infusing lessons with technology promotes problem-soving and active learning.
Get feedback.
Evaluate the lesson and assess its effectiveness. Involve students and teachers in the process.
End positively.
Conclude the lesson by encouraging positive thinking and giving the students something good to take away from the session.
