I am employed at the Parent Training and Information Center of Iowa in Des Moines, Iowa.
My current position with PTIC is as a Family Support Coordinator. I am usually the first person that families talk to regarding their son or daughter on educational issues and/or health related issues. I inform parents of their rights and also refer them to appropriate agencies if they have a need beyond my areas of expertise
I am originally from Rochester, MN, but moved to Ames, IA in 1984. I attended Iowa State University where I received my BS in elementary education.
Even through I moved to Iowa in 1984, I truly feel that Iowa is my home. Through my work experience and leisure activities. I have had the opportunity to travel around our state and see how wondrous Iowa is and to meet people from diverse backgrounds.
My husband's name is Jeff, and is an architect for the Department of Transportation in Ames. He is also in transitioning to retirement as a Major from the U.S. Army Reserves.
We have two children, Makenzie, 11 and Paul, 6, who has Down Syndrome. They both attend school in the Gilbert Community School District.
