- I interviewed Mr.DeNorchia, a Superintendent in Hillsdale. Before he
worked in Hillsdale, he was a superintendent in Morris County for seven
years. He has been working at Meadowbrook School for 18 years. One of
the requirements for this position is to have a master’s degree. Some
additional requirements are to be: state certified, a teacher, a
guidance counselor, a principal, and a superintendent. He works from
eight o’clock in the morning until sometimes five, eight, or eleven
o’clock at night. His greatest pleasure about his job is talking to
students, interacting with teachers, and walking around the schools. He
has made a lot of changes around the schools. He bought laptops and TVs
for the schools. He also made kindergarten a whole day and built

- I interviewed Mr. Spirito the principal at Meadowbrook School. Math was his
favorite subject when he was in 4th grade. He was a vice
principal in Montvale at Memorial School and George White in Hillsdale.
Some types of jobs he had before entering education are painting and a
summer camp counselor. Mr. Spirito taught for eleven years in Norwood.
He taught many years there. One grade was 4th grade. Some
things Mr. Spirito likes to do is work with teachers and seeing the
children. He likes everything about being a principal. When Mr. Spirito
was in 4th grade he wanted to work with children when he grew
up. Mr. Spirito grew up in Hawthorne, NJ. Mr. Spirito has 4 children,
two girls and two boys. It was exciting interviewing Mr. Spirito.

- I interviewed Ms. Defalco, the guidance counselor at Meadowbrook
School. She loves her job at Meadowbrook School. Ms. Defalco has worked at Meadowbrook School for 3
years. She thinks her job is great because it is very rewarding. She
worked in Cliffside Park as a 6th grade teacher and many
other jobs before she worked at Meadowbrook School. Her favorite book is
The Giving Tree. Ms. Defalco loves traveling; she goes on one big trip a
year. She chose to be a guidance counselor because there is less
paperwork and she loves children. The universities she went to are St/
Peter’s and Montclair. In her spare time she travels and cooks. When she
was in 4th grade it was like now but there were less
computers and more writing. She still likes her 4th grade
teacher very much. Ms. Defalco is
a very interesting person.

- I interviewed Mrs. Deutsch the School Nurse. Mrs. Deutsch has a masters
degree that she earned from Seton Hall. It took her 3 years to earn her
degree. She has been a nurse for 35 years Although she has only been a
school nurse for 14 years. She had many other jobs before this when she
was in high school. School was different when she was my age because the
girls had to were skirts or dresses. Mrs. Deutsch has two children, a
girl and a boy. If she could have any other job, she would still be a
nurse. Mrs. Deutsch wanted to become a nurse since she wanted to work in
school because you get to know
the children better than in a hospital. She has to get retrained on many
new techniques. She gets retrained from different classes and learns
about

- I interviewed Mrs. Hamlin an Administrative Assistant at Meadowbrook
school. She worked at an insurance company before she came to
Meadowbrook school. She had way more homework than us in fourth grade.
She has worked 17 years at Meadowbrook school. Her hobbies are knitting
and reading and her talent in work is doing paper work. Mrs. Hamlin
loves her job and enjoys almost
every minute of it.

- I interviewed Mrs. O’Toole a secretary at Meadowbrook school. She had
many other jobs before, she came to Meadowbrook. She has worked for 3
years as a secretary here. Mrs.O’Toole’s special talent in her job is
fast typing she needs a lot of skills for it. The hardest part of her
job is seeing kids get in trouble. She had four hours of homework when
she was in fourth grade. Mrs. O’Toole loves and would never give up her
job. Mrs. O’Toole has such an interesting life.

- I interviewed Mr. Charlie. The lead custodian at Meadowbrook School.
Mr. Charlie’s previous job was at United Water! I remember I went on a
field trip and I saw a vast picture of him in the front part of the
building! Mr. Charlie was encouraged to be a custodian by his brother-
in-law! He likes to work as a custodian because he likes to see people
smile and he likes to help people. His second choice of job will be
building custom motorcycles with his two sons Derek who is 35 and Jeffery who is 32. Derek is married to
his wife Laura. And Jeffery who is married to his wife Beth. Mr. Charlie
has been married to his wife
Norma for 35 years. Mr. Charlie likes to ride motorcycles, fix
motorcycles, play guitar and spend time with his grandson. When he was little he wanted to be a
mechanic. Mr. Charlie hates to plow the snow blow but he loves to
prepare things for us like assemblies and lunches. Mr. Charlie is the
best and coolest custodian ever!

- I interviewed Mrs. Thomas a Pre- School teacher at Meadowbrook School.
Mrs. Thomas has been working at Meadowbrook School for five years. When
Mrs. Thomas was in fourth grade it was fun, it was different than
Meadowbrook. She went to a Catholic
school so she had to wear a uniform. In her spare time she likes
to spend time with her family, read and scrap book. Mrs. Thomas knew
some of the teachers outside of school. Mrs. Thomas’ degrees are a BA.
She is also certified to teach kindergarten through fifth grade. Mrs.
Thomas loves teaching at Meadowbrook School. This is Mrs. Thomas’s first
teaching job. Mrs. Thomas is married. She has four children. Mrs. Thomas

- I interviewed Mrs. Smith a resource room teacher here at Meadowbrook
School. Mrs. Smith wanted to be a teacher when she was in 4th
grade. Her favorite subjects to teach are reading and math. Being a
teacher at Meadowbrook School is Mrs. Smith’s favorite job and she is
very happy to be at Meadowbrook School. She grew up in Oradell. She went
to college in Connecticut and got two degrees. Her typical day at
Meadowbrook is in the morning she does Reading and Writing with the 4th
graders. In the afternoon she works with the preschool. Her favorite
subject was reading when she was in 4th grade. Mrs. Smith has a son that is 22 and a
daughter that

- I interviewed Miss Lio. She is a Kindergarten teacher at Meadowbrook
school. She went to collage at Elan University in North Carolina for 4
years . Miss Lio loves to teach
kindergarten because she loves her students. If Miss Lio had to choose another
grade it would be 2nd grade.
She loves to read. Her
favorite things to read are magazines and novels. Her favorite teacher
was her kindergarten teacher, who made her first year of school a lot of
fun. Miss Lio has been a teacher
at Meadowbrook for six years. One
of her hobbies is going to the gym, playing flag football and
travelling . Her favorite subject is math. Her favorite part of teaching is
seeing her students. I learned a
lot about Miss Lio.

- I interviewed Mr. Lorello a kindergarten teacher at Meadowbrook School.
Mr. Lorello has been working at Meadowbrook School for twenty-three
years. That’s a long time! Back when Mr. Lorello was in fourth grade it
was very different than it is today. He went to a catholic school. His
teacher was the principal. If someone got in trouble they would get
loudly yelled at. Mr. Lorello loves to play hockey and other sporting
events in his spare time. Infact, he knew some of the teaches outside of
school. Mr. Lorello’s degrees are a B.A. from Keen Univeristy and
Montclair University. Mr. Lorello
loves working at Meadowbrook School. He enjoys working with all the
staff and the principal. This was not his first teaching job. He used to
work at a day care center and a nursery. Mr.

- I interviewed Mrs.O’Reilly a kindergarten teacher at Meadowbrook
school. She loves her kindergarten job and class. Mrs.O’Reilly wanted to
be a kindergarten teacher because that was her favorite job when she was
looking for one. She does not like to have time off from school
because she likes her job. Her
favorite subject when she was my age was Science, she loved it till
college. Mrs.O’Reilly would want to be a 1st grade teacher if
she had to pick another job. She has 3 children their ages are 23,
22,and 18. Mrs. O’Reilly worked in Paramus before working here. She
attended Wilson college in PA.

- I interviewed Mrs. DeChiara a first grade teacher at Meadowbrook
School. Mrs. DeChiara has been working here for 7 years. She loves
working here. It took her 4 years to get her teaching diploma. Her
favorite subject to teach and to learn is math. She likes to read and
spend time with family. Also she likes to go to her sons soccer games in
her free time. When she went to school it was very different. In
kindergarten they had half days and had naps. Before she worked here she
was a teacher in New Hampshire. She said,” The best

- I interviewed Mrs. Dripchak, a first grade teacher, at Meadowbrook School. She has been working here for
six years. She enjoys working at Meadowbrook because she loves the
people she works with. Also, she thinks it’s a great learning
environment. It took her five years to get her teaching diploma because
she went to school half time. In her free time she likes to knit, read,
cook, and spend time with family. She says the best part about teaching
is to see how the children progress. Her favorite subject to learn is
English. Mrs. Dripchak started teaching when she was 35 years old. It
was fun interviewing Mrs. Dripchak!

- I interviewed Mrs. Gibney a first grade teacher at Meadowbrook school . Her favorite part at about
working at Meadowbrook is seeing all the wonderful people. She wanted to be a teacher because she
always used to pretend she was a teacher and she played school. Mrs.
Gibney loves to teach reading . She thinks if you don’t know how to read
you won’t get anywhere . In her
spare time she spends most of her time with her family. Mrs. Gibney’s favorite part about
Meadowbrook is the kids. Her Her
favorite grades to teach are 2 , 1, and kindergarten . Mrs. Gibney ‘s
hobbies are to read scrapbook ,
and travel. She loves too read .
Her favorite book is a mystery . She loves to try to figure out what is
going to happen next. She dose
enjoy teaching. She went to Montclair and Rutgers college
. Mrs. Gibney would also like to
be a loyar . Her favorite subjects are reading and Language Arts. That’s

- I interviewed Mrs. Wechtler a first grade teacher at Meadowbrook
School. Her favorite grade to teach is 1st grade. She has
been teaching for 32 years. Mrs. Wechtler has not worked anywhere else
besides at Hillsdale, only in high school. School is very similar to how
it is now, but she has noticed that the children aren’t as respectful to
the adults as they used to be. Mrs. Wechtler has not had any other jobs
before this job. She two children, Eric her son and Susan her daughter.
She would teach 2nd and 3rd grade if she could.
She likes it here at Meadowbrook School because it is a nice place. She
has observed over the years that we have more technical supplies. Also
children aren’t as entertained as they used to be, they don’t entertain
themselves. It was incredible interviewing Mrs. Wechtler.

- I interviewed Ms.Alderton a second grade teacher. When she was in
fourth grade she remembers sitting in rows. Ms. Alderton also remembers
having trouble with math so when she was called up to the board to do a
math problem she was scared.5 years later in high school she wanted to be an FBI agent!
Years passed and she ended up being a wonderful teacher!
Ms.Alderton says that she enjoys
helping students in the beginning of the year most. I guess it’s sad
saying goodbye to them at the end of the year. To get organized to
be on the top of work, is
important to her. My class always tries to have organized folders she
explains. This is how you stay on top of the class and work. Still,
students need her help. Ms.Alderton tries to reach all her students who
need help. This is the most important part of teaching she
thinks..Ms.Alderton recommends that her class listen. This is one of the
skills that she prepares her

- I interviewed Mrs. Muller, a second grade teacher at Meadowbrook
School. She worked at another school and taught grade 4 for 4 years.
Mrs. Muller likes Meadowbrook School a lot because there are great
people to work with. In her spare time, Mrs. Muller likes to read, watch
sporting events, and spend time
with her family. Mrs. Muller’s favorite subject in school when
she was in fourth grade was math. If she could choose another grade to
teach, she would teach kindergarten. Mrs. Muller’s favorite part about
teaching second grade is that they are great students. She misses
being a media specialist because
she got to know every child in the school. When she was a media
specialist, she sort of knew what all of the books were about because of
the title of the books, and the category that they are in. Mrs. Muller
got her teaching degree at St. Johns University. Mrs. Muller is a great
teacher.

- I interviewed Mr. O’Connell, a second grade teacher. He has been
teaching at Meadowbrook School for 3 years. He has also taught at
another school. It was in Park Ridge, and he taught 6th, 7th,
and 8th grade. If he could choose another grade to teach, he
would choose 3rd grade. His favorite part about teaching 2nd
grade is that the students are starting to become independent workers.
Mr. O’Connell’s favorite part about Meadowbrook School is the teamwork
within the staff and the enthusiasm
of the students. His favorite subject in school when he was in 4th
grade was math. In his spare time, Mr. O’Connell loves to play football.

- I interviewed Mrs. Dano on February 11, 2008. Mrs. Dano has been
working at Meadowbrook School for 23 years. She loves to teach because
everyone has a different answer or reason why something is right or
wrong. She has been teaching for 26 years altogether. Mrs. Dano’s
favorite subjects are math, science, and reading. She loves to read.
Mrs. Dano has an eight year old daughter named Nicole. Some of her
favorite hobbies are reading and cooking. She loves to travel and wants
to travel over the world. Her most memorable moments here at Meadowbrook
are every first and last day of school. If Mrs. Dano could choose
another profession, it would be a person who counts things. I had fun
interviewing Mrs. Dano.

- I interviewed Ms. Enrico a 3rd grade teacher at Meadowbrook
school. Ms. Enrico has been teaching for six years. Before teaching at
Meadowbrook she taught a kindergarten class. Ms. Enrico loves to teach
because she loves be with children. When she was younger she had a lot
of homework and it was very hard. To get her first diploma it took her
four years, to get her master degree it took two years. She has many
degrees some are be:: Master, Minor psychology, and a bachelors degree.
She has been teaching 3rd grade for 5 years and this year is
the start of her 6th year. Some

- I interviewed Mrs. Markell. She said 4th grade was hard when
she was in it but she had a great teacher. Her favorite subject then was
reading she said that reading was always great. Mrs. Markell went to two
colleges. The Catholic University in Washington D.C. is where she got
her Bachelors Degree. At Jersey City State College she got a Masters in
Counseling. Mrs. Markell taught at St. Leo’s for 1 year. She taught as a
aid at the Ridgewood for a year and now she is a teacher here at
Meadowbrook. She says she is organized and notes help her. She is great
help about how to be organized. Mrs. Markell loves her job she feels it
is a privilege to go to school. In her free time she plays with her
daughter Olivia, plays

- I interviewed Mrs. Cartwright a 4rth grade teacher at Meadowbrook. Her
favorite part about about Meadowbook is well just everything . She
choose to teach because she
thought it was interesting. She loves to teach math and grammar. In her spare time she likes to read

Cartwright likes that Meadowbrook
is so small and everyone in it is polite.She has taught 3rd ,
sixth, high school and 4th grades. She likes 4rth the best

her favorite type of book is Historical fiction. She went St. Johns for her Bachelors degree and
Wagner's plus Jersey City for her Master’s degree. When Mrs. Cartwright was my age there
was larger classes and more homework. She liked all subjects. That's

- I interviewed Mrs. Greenberg a 4th grade teacher at
Meadowbrook School. Mrs. Greenberg loves students. She loves teaching
because she gets to know students and gets to know new students. Some of
Mrs. Greenberg’s favorite things to do with her classes are reading.
This is Mrs. Greenberg’s 5th year. Mrs. Greenberg worked at a
another school before she came to Meadowbrook. She attended SUNY
Binghamton to get her degree. Some of her hobbies are reading and
exercising. If Mrs. Greenberg could chose another profession it would be
a nurse. She likes to read books that teach. Mrs. has one child that is
1 year old. That’s Mrs. Greenberg!

- I interviewed Mrs. Hook a fourth grade teacher at Meadowbrook
School. She chose to be a teacher
first of all because she loves children.
She finds it very rewarding and challenging when it comes to
teaching children and she loves to see the sparkle in a child’s eyes
when they’ve learned something new or grasped a concept. When she was in the fourth grade she
always wanted to be a teacher.
She loved reading and writing and still does. She loves her job
at Meadowbrook. If she wasn’t a
teacher she would probably be a therapist. Her daughter is a clinical therapist
and she always discusses things in this area. She loves to bake, cook, read and
exercise. She has three children,
Stephanie, 29, Danny, 27 and Courtney 26. I love Meadowbrook because the people

- I interviewed Ms. Davis a Resource room teacher. She teaches all the
subjects. She doesn't want to teach another grade. Ms Davis picked this
profession because she loves kids. She went to Dominican College. She
got her teaching diploma in 1995. She been a teacher for 13 years. Her
favorite thing about teaching is watching the kids learn. She loved
spelling when she was young. She was a pre K teacher before a Resource
Room teacher. If she wasn't a teacher she would like to be a nurse. I
enjoyed interviewing Ms Davis.

- I interviewed Mrs. Gunning, a resource room teacher. She started
teaching at Meadowbrook elementary 19 years ago. She has been teaching
for 19 years. She has taught all the grades in the school. She attended
the William Patterson University for her bachelors degree and Jersey
City State for her Masters degree. Her bachelors degree was in education
and her Masters degree was in supervision. For her, 4th grade
was very good and she still remembers her teachers. Her favorite subject
was reading. She likes her job because she likes her students. Her
hobbies are exercising and cooking.

- I interviewed Mrs.Vandervalk a resource teacher at Meadowbrook School.
Mrs.Vandervalk has been teaching for 22 years. Before teaching she was a
waitress, a day camp counselor, and a coupon counter. Besides teaching,
she would like to work as a landscaper, a librarian, or work in
DisneyLand. Some of the
requirements for this position is to have a great sense of humor, lots
of patience and to really enjoy working with children. In her free time
,she likes to go hiking, biking, and she also loves to go to music
concerts. She has 3 children. Mrs.Vandervalk loves to teach. Her
favorite subjects to teach is reading and science. It took her 6 years
to become a teacher. She has a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. Mrs.
Vandervalk went to Bergen Community college and Dominican College. She
is a great resource teacher.

- I interviewed Mrs. Babcock, a basic skills teacher at Meadowbrook
School. Mrs. Babcock went to Ridgewood High School. She does not play
sports now, but in high school she played softball and she was on four
gymnastics teams. Some of her hobbies are playing with her son. It takes
her two minutes to get to work. Her cousin inspired her to become a
teacher. She likes to teach KQ and Basic Skills. She likes Justin
Timberlake and Dave Matthews
Band. Her favorite vacation spot
is Hawaii. Mrs. Babcock likes her friends because they are trustworthy,
honest, and responsible. That’s what I learned about Mrs. Babcock!

- The other day I
interviewed Ms.Carr. I really got to learn a lot about her. She wanted
to become a gym teacher because when she was growing up her dad had
diabetes and he died early.
Ms.Carr has been a gym
teacher for 6 years. It took her 4 years to become one. She also teaches
tennis and is a trainer. Her job before this one was an aftercare
helper. I got to find out her favorite game in gym which is sink the
ship. The college she went to was
called William Paterson University. Her favorite subject in fourth grade
was spelling which is actually
one of mine. One of the classes
she took to become a gym teacher is called study movement. What really stunned me was she has never worked at another school. I can’t believe I got to
interview one of my favorite teachers out of 21 other kids. I was so
lucky to interview Ms.Carr.

- I interviewed Mrs. DiLonardo on
- February 6 2008. Mrs. Dilonardo loved art all throughout her life. In 4th
grade she knew she wanted to be a artist or a nurse to help people. Mrs.
DiLonardo went to William Patterson college. She was so close to home
that she commuted every day. Mrs. DiLonardo loves her job here at
Meadowbrook because she can teach
children art and how to express themselves. She loves to paint portraits
and animals with water colors. Mrs. DiLonardo has never met a famous
artist but if she could meet any famous artist in the world she said she
would meet Andrew Wyeth, he is her favorite artist. Since Mrs.
DiLonardo loves art she would go
to Italy. She says it is beautiful and very artistic. Mrs. DiLonardo is
the best art teacher.

- I interviewed Dr. Dimuro the health teacher at Meadowbrook School. She
loves her job at Meadowbrook School. She has been working here since
October, 2007. Dr. Dimuro loves her job because she loves children and
health. She worked as a school teacher before she worked at Meadowbrook
School. Her favorite book is the series of the Big Red Dog. Dr. Dimuro
loves to travel. In her spare time she likes to do needle point and
knitting. She loved health so she became a health teacher. She got her
degree in Delaware to become a health teacher and at Palmer College of
Chiropractor to become a Chiropractor. Dr. Dimuro is a great person.

- I interviewed Mr. Dunn a music teacher at Meadowbrook School. Mr.
Dunn's favorite subjects were science and math when he was young. He
learned to play the guitar on his own at 18. It took him 4 years to get
his teaching diploma. His favorite kind of music is rock. He played
football and baseball when he was young. He has 1 brother. Mr. Dunn
likes teaching because it’s a good job and the kids are nice. He grew up
in Ramsey. I enjoyed interviewing Mr. Dunn.

- I interviewed Ms. Killeen, the media teacher, at Meadowbrook School.
She is satisfied with her job at Meadowbrook. Ms.Killeen has been
working here for a few months. She has a part time job at a day care
center in the summer. She is not married. It took her one year to get
her diploma and she has four degrees. It also took her two years to get
her media diploma. When Ms. Killeen was in fourth grade, she enjoyed
basketball and she did cheerleading. She also enjoyed learning about the
states. She will keep on teaching as a permanent job. Ms. Killeen enjoys
helping students find books they enjoy or she gets them in interested in
other books they might be entertained by. She finished The Invention of
Hugo Cabret

- I interviewed Mrs. Lang the computer teacher at Meadowbrook School. Mrs. Lang likes her job
because of the children and she
loves all the computers. Her favorite thing to do in her free time is
read. Mrs. Lang’s hobbies are reading and swimming. Her favorite grade
was 1st grade, and her favorite teacher was Mrs. Murphy. She was
inspired to become of teacher
because of her love for children. Mrs. Lang attend Ramapo
College, Fairleigh Dickinson University and William Patterson.
University. Mrs. Lang received her B.A. degree. In the summer she goes
to Long Beach Island. She wanted to be a computer teacher because she
loves children and she loves to work with computers. Before Mrs. Lang
came to Meadowbrook, she worked for a big corporation as a Marketing
Manager. I enjoyed learning more about Mrs. Lang.

- It was so fun getting to learn
more about Mrs. Lincoln because she was my speech teacher. I got to know if she worked any where else and she did
she worked at Montvale, and a hospital in Edison N.J. She also worked as
a teacher once. Mrs. Lincoln does not have any
children. She attended a college called the University of Hartford in
Connecticut and then Montclair State University. She has been a speech
teacher for 10 years, and it took
her 3 years to get her diploma.. A lot of things made her choose her profession, like
people not speaking that clear. What really amazed me was she never
finds her self correcting other people.

- I interviewed Mrs. Jennings a speech therapist at Meadowbrook School.
She likes her job because the work is fun and she likes all the
children. Mrs. Jennings favorite thing to do in her free is to play with her kids and she just started to knit. Her hobbies are swimming and reading.
Mrs. Jennings favorite grade was 8 grade. Her favorite teacher in high
school was Mrs. Deal. The thing
that inspired her to become a
teacher was because her mom was a
teacher . She wanted to help kids with lots of different disabilities.
Mrs. Jennings thinks speech is a fun thing to teach. She worked in Pearl
River with 3 year old kids. She has lots of plans in the summer. She plans on just going to hang out with her
friends in the summer.

- I interviewed Senora Jennings, Meadowbrook’s Spanish teacher. If
students are having trouble learning Spanish Senora Jennings calls them
to her class room individually and she explains how to pronounce a word.
Spanish helps to process information since there are so many people in
America how speak Spanish. she explains. Senora Jennings loves to come
up with new ideas, new activities, and mostly the children.. This is her
favorite thing about teaching.
Games help students to study best since they help children.
Follow what to do she thinks. They should study daily if they can, too.
She chose to be a Spanish teacher since she was born in a Spanish
country. If she could teach another subject area it would be Social Studies.
Her only hobby is playing with her children. That is all she has time
for. She has 4 girls, a 11 month old, Kiera, a 5 year old, Melissa, 3
year old, Samantha,

- I interviewed Mrs. Simpson she is a kindergarten music teacher at
Meadowbrook school. She likes her music job here because it is local and
close to her house. Mrs. Simpson wanted to be a music teacher because
she loves music. She likes to have time off from school because she
doesn't have school every day. Her favorite subject when she was my age
was music and English. If Mrs. Simpson was to be assigned to special she
would want to be a computer teacher. She has four children. Her job
before this one at Meadowbrook was a substitute at Meadowbrook and Smith
school. She attended Temple University for college.
