New Jersey and You!

Introduction

Your father has finally given in! You and your brother & sister have promised not to fight and he has consented to spend two weeks traveling with the family along the Northeastern coast of the United States. It has been decided that you will first visit your grandparents who live in New Jersey, and begin your touring there. If all goes well, you will continue on your trip. If there is any fighting or malcontent, the trip will be canceled and dad will play golf for the duration of the vacation.

Before you leave on your trip, it is important that you be informed about why New Jersey is unique. Click here to go to general facts

Task

After learning basic factual information about New Jersey, your group will plan the family’s vacation. Each member of the” family “has a different interest and that interest must be accommodated when choosing the places to visit on your trip.

Dad is an American history buff and enjoys anything that has to do with that topic. You will need to find one historical site.

Mom owns an art gallery and has a great appreciation for all types of art; paintings and sculpture. She would love to see a museum.

Michael, your  15 year old brother, shares your interest with the great outdoors. After visiting the museum, you will want to move around a bit. Find an outdoor activity you will both enjoy.

Jennifer, your 12 year old sister loves roller coasters. Nothing makes her happier than going round and round on one of those monster rides (especially if your mother is screaming in the seat beside her.) Make sure she gets to an amusement park.

Process

You will be assigned to a “family” of four or five. Each family member will be responsible for choosing one of the places to visit as well as  finding the answers to the General Facts sheet    The following sites will help you choose a location to visit and complete your project.
