Chaco Culture
National Historic Park
Chaco Culture National Historic Park is located in northwestern New Mexico.  Within the park are ruins of what are believed to be public buildings and numerous smaller village sites.

The largest public building, Pueblo Bonito, was at least four stories and contained more than 600 rooms and kivas (ceremonial rooms).  There was also an elaborate irrigation system.  The irrigation system consisted of gates and canals that diverted runoff from summer storms into cornfields.

Anne Marie and I spent a day in Chaco Canyon over Columbus Day weekend.  We were given an excellent tour by one of the rangers of the National Parks Service.  Check out some of the photos from our day!
