SUMMER '2000
Sandler had quite an interesting summer. In June, Sandler was neutered. We thought when he arrived home from the procedure he would be tired, so we bought him a bed. Boy, were we wrong! As usual he wanted to play ball & go for a walk! Within a month though, he chewed his bed up when we were at work one day (pictured below).

Around the same time he chewed up his bed, we took Sandler to an animal behaviorist. See, he suffers from separation anxiety from his Mom & Dad.
So, he take some medication to help him get through the day while we are at work. We tried to crate him, but it did not work. He gets too nervous. So, we began leaving him in the dining room/kitchen area with a kiddie gate separating that area from the living room. Well, his next "project" was tearing up the linoleum while we were at work. Luckily it was being replaced in a month anyhow.

So, once the new flooring was put down, we decided to see how he would be in the living room. For a couple of weeks he was fine. Then the couch incident. He chewed up one cushion of the sofa......the cushion his Daddy sits on! That was it! We have an unfinished basement with heating & lighting and my husband even put a small TV down there for some noise for Sandler. He also has a travel kennel down there which he goes into immediately when he goes down there. I believe this makes him feel safe.

In August '2000 my family had a sad occurrence.....the family dog, Sparky, suddenly passed away one evening. After only a few days, my parents decided they could not live without a dog and decided on a miniature schnauzer. His name is Ralphy and the picture below is Sandler & Ralphy's 1st meeting.
