Teacher and School Related Sites

www.education-world.com
This site has everything! Curriculum information by subject, lesson plans, message boards for teachers to discuss issues, information about other sites -- and it is SEARCHABLE! Its motto is "Where Educators go to Learn!"

www.middleweb.com
This site is the BEST middle level site I have ever found on the web. Whenever I have a question, I look here first. It has a great searchable index that makes finding specific information even easier. If it is related to middle school, you will find it here.

www.nmsa.org
This is the site for the National Middle School Association. It has some helpful, basic information and some links to other sites.

www.surfaquarium.com
The people that put this one together are wild! You will find information grouped by "Innovative Teaching," "Homework 911," "Wisdom" and much more.

www.educast.com

This site has some tried and true ideas along with some new ones too. There are downloadable lessons, contests and education links.

www.HomeworkCentral.com
This site is a great one to suggest to students who are struggling with at home school work. I will often check here to see how "they" explain something tricky.

www.learninggate.com
This is a site that I am watching to see what new things they will develop. They currently have an online grading program that allows kids (and parents) to check their grade using a secret code from home. It is currently too cumbersome, but maybe someday!

www.teachervision.com
This site offers free classroom webpages! You can find all kinds of thematic information, lesson ideas, and other resources. You can even buy school supplies here.

www.funbrain.com
I use this site so my students can do on-line quizzes from home. They love getting the extra credit and I love it that they are working on their skills on their own time!

www.kn.pacbell.com/wired/fil/
This is the safest and easiest way I know to get my students searching for information on the internet. It takes the "wasted" time out of our days in the computer lab.

www.freespirit.com
www.cottonwoodpress.com
These two are by far the best sites for buying teacher resources on-line.  I have loved everything I've purchased.

www.webteacher.org is a great site to help you understand the basics of the world wide web. This is a great site to share with a colleague who is a little behind in technology.

fossick.com/Education.htm

www.pitsco.com/p/resmenu.htm

www.onlineclass.com is a site that offers great looking interactive lessons and activities. There is a rather expensive registration fee, but it looks like the kind of thing that would really integrate good teaching, student inquiry and technology. There is an option for auditing a class to see if it is a good program for you. I can't wait to try it!
