This forsaken group of graves is on land formerley owned by James
Byrns
but now owned by Mrs. Carole Salrin. They are a short distance from
a
traveled road in a pasture at the edge of a woods. There was no sign
of
a fence and the stones had been knocked over and many were
broken.
According to land records the tract once belonged to Jeremiah and
Jesse
Kinman. Later these farm belonged to the Byrns family.

The Beans Cemetery, one and one half acres in size was deeded to
the
public for a grave yard by Rosanna Beans and heirs on April 2,
1872
following the death of her husband, James G. Beans on March 17,
1872.
The deed was witnessed by Orlando Meyers and E. M. Spenser with
John
Ryan as Justice of the Peace.
Mr. and Mrs. Beans had come to
Missouri Township from Ohio by water.
Landing at Frederick on the Illinois
River in 1855.
Beans Cemetery is located on a travelled road on high
ground so it is
well drained. It has always been fenced to stock has never
run in to
knock down and break the stones. Those interested in it hope to be
able
to give it regular care. It was cleaned off in November 1958. In
1973,
the fence was not down, but it was difficult to find the stones, many
of
which were down among the high weeds and tough grasses. However,
there
was no underbrush so cleaning would not be too difficult.
