| Basic Cake Mix 8 c Cake Flour 1/4 c Baking Powder 2 1/2 c Vegetable Shortening 6 c Sugar 1 1/2 ts Salt In a large bowl, sift together cake flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix well With a pastry blender, cut in shortening until the mixture is as fine as cornmeal. Put in a large airtight container. Label as Basic Cake Mix and store in a cool dry place. Use with 10 to 12 weeks. Makes about 16 cups of mix. |
