Aquamarine is a form of beryl, beryl is a colorless stone that gets color from impurities. Emerald is also a form of beryl.

The name "aquamarine" comes from Latin meaning "water of the sea.
Aquamarine is made when iron gets in the beryl crystal. Most aquamarine gems are heated because yellow stones are much more common, and less popular. Heating these yellow stones at very high temperatures makes them become blue. This said, most of these stones do start out in the ground. Most of them are flawless and the stones are fairly common so

Most Aquamarine comes from Brazil, but other mines are located in Pakistan and there are some in the U.S.
