The operation of WinOnCD is now simpler than ever before. Enjoy an improved and clearly arranged user interface. 
The sound editor can convert sounds directly into the MP3 format. 
The new sound effect "Normalizer" can automatically adjust the relative volume of sound files to optimal levels. 
The "MP3 Album" project is used to create  MP3 CDs for playing on MP3 players. 
Sound tracks of audio CDs may be extracted directly to an MP3 Album. They are converted automatically into the MP3 format. 
MP3 CDs on a PC or Mac may be played in a normal web browser. The songs are selected using the HTML menu structure. 
Any playing order for MP3 songs on MP3 CDs may be selected. Simply drag & drop in the project window to modify the order of the titles - WinOnCD will then automatically produce a sorted playlist. 
Create VCDs and SVCDs with Roxio VideoPack 5. VideoPack 5 offers substantially more functions for the creation of VCDs and supports the creation of SVCDs. You will find sources of supply for VideoPack 5 on the Roxio Website under www.roxio.de. 
The automatic OverSpan function will distribute large quantities of data on several CDs. Use the "OverSpan Data CD" project. 
DirectCD 5.1 software with UDF packet writing may be installed in order to read and write CDRs and CDRWs like a hard drive using Windows Explorer. Information for installing and using DirectCD is in the DirectCD help file. 
Create VCDs and play them with the integrated software VCD player. Create SVCDs from many different video source materials with the optional MPEG-2 encoder plug-in.

Play songs and sound files with the integrated music player and enjoy fascinating and colorful visualizations. 
In the Photo Album you can create directories. Directories and subdirectories can be searched and all pictures found are inserted in the project. Each subdirectory can represent an album. 
In the Photo Album you can change the order of the pictures by clicking on a picture and dragging it to the desired position. 
In the Photo Album project you can move or copy pictures from one album into another album. You can move or copy selected pictures in the Photo Album editor using the Edit / Cut or Edit / Copy and Edit / Paste menu items. 
You can select multiple items in the Photo Album editor using Ctrl-Click or by dragging a frame around them. All items that are within the frame will be selected. 
Background image files for the photo, music and MP3 albums are in the WinOnCD\Images\Bck directory and are available for right click selection in the Artwork editor. 
To align items in the Artwork editor you can select multiple items using Ctrl-Click. 
The CD Audio editor can refresh a track wave by right clicking on the track and selecting "Reload Wave". 
The CD Audio editor can select a wave area by dragging with the mouse. 
In the left side of the CD Audio editor, a left click can select the tracks, index, volume or effect icons to activate that function. 
In the CD Audio editor you can create new track marks by Ctrl-clicking on the desired position of the waveform. 
In the CD Audio editor you can expand an existing selection by Shift-clicking on the selection. 
In the CD Audio editor you can select the area of a track, index, volume or effect setting by Shift-clicking on the respective bar. 
Double clicking the wave form(s) in the CD Audio editor will select the complete waveform(s). 
The artwork editor can insert background pictures directly by drag and drop. If you depress the shift key, only one page of a booklet is provided with a new background. 
When printing you can preview and adjust the size and position of the print by doubleclicking on the preview diagram in the printing dialog. 
The area of an audio effect in the CD Audio editor can be modified by dragging the border of the appropriate bar in the FX area. 
You can create a new node in the volume control of the CD Audio editor by Ctrl-clicking on the desired position of the curve. The node can be moved to adjust the volume and the changes will be reflected by the waveform display immediately. To remove a node, select it and choose "Delete node" from the context menu (right mouse button).   
You can subdivide or set index or marks into audio tracks. Select the desired position for the indices with the mouse and click the right mouse button on the "Track" bar. Audio tracks can also be partitioned with index labels by marking the desired position in the CD Audio editor by Crtl-clicking. The right mouse button is used to select an index label. 
If there are audio CDR recording problems, try reducing the recording speed in the Record menu. The optimal reading rate can be determined with the Roxio CheckCD utility in the WinOnCD 5 Power Edition folder in the start menu. 
Audio-CD tracks can be recorded at different times if the session is left open after adding tracks. As long as you want to add more tracks, check "Don't close CD". Make sure to check "Close disc" when you are adding the last track(s). 
The jewel case booklet (cover) is best created after the last track on the CDR has been recorded. 
Booklets can be created for audio or data CDs that have been already recorded. Simply select the type of project for that CD and insert the description of the CD contents in the target window. The entries will be transferred to the booklet editor. 
Want a title for your data CD? Right-click the  label next to the root folder in the destination window and select "Volume label" from the context menu. The name you enter here will be displayed later next to the drive letter.   
You do not usually need to write an image file if all the tracks for the project are already on your harddisk. 
If desired, WinOnCD supports frequent backups of directories on multisession CDs. From the menu: CD ROM editor / Files System Properties / Multisession allows a selection of what to do if files are already recorded on a CD. 
If you want to create an Audio CD without gaps between the tracks, you can do this selecting the track in track view and clicking the right mouse button. Choose "Properties" and set the "Pause before this Track" to "0". NOTE: Not all recorders support this feature in Track-At-Once mode. 
If an error message occurs while recording, it will have no effect on the content of the source drive. If WinOnCD must be restarted, the source material will be unaffected and intact. 
If certain files are frequently recorded to a data CDR, the physical position on the CDR can be changed. Under CD-ROM Editor / Placement,  assign the desired priority to the files . 
When working with WinOnCD you do not need to switch off the "Auto Insert Notification". This will be de-activated automatically by WinOnCD during the CD recording process. 
Not sure if your recorder has a certain functionality? You can find a feature-list under Options -> Preferences -> Recorder -> Info. 
A new source for CD Copy can be selecting by choosing the desired drive in the source window. The F5 key will refresh the window if necessary. 
If recorded CDRs are not readable on different CD-ROM drives, try another CDR type or brand.   
Regular back-up of important data is easy with WinOnCD: Create a Multisession CD and drag files and folders to be saved to the destination window. Select the proper settings under Options -> Preferences. Starting with the second session you will be able to add only the data which have been actually changed or added since the previous session. 
WinOnCD provides  a space-saving choice in CD-ROM Editor / Directory / Filter. The filter can be used to eliminate unneeded, unwanted, or wasteful files. 
Please note that some CDs (e.g. game CDs) may have a copy protection scheme. Some of these copy protected CDs cannot be copied correctly with WinOnCD. 
If you are uncertain where certain adjustments can be made, try the right mouse button. Frequently this leads into a context menu with many options. 
To create a full image of a CD on your hard disk you will need a maximum of 755 MB hard disk space (e.g. when copying a 74 minute audio CD). 
It is not necessary to have a second drive for a CD Copy operation. Insert the CD into the recorder and start the copying process. If WinOnCD copies the source CD to the hard drive, and you will be requested to insert the target CD into the same drive. 
Unreproducable writing errors may be solved by trying a different recordable media brand. 
CDR recordings can be provided with the autorun function by adding an autorun.inf file to the root folder. This can be selected in the CD-ROM Editor / Autorun menu choice.
