The Clay Cliffs

Clay Cliffs

Canon EOS 1D + Canon 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II
1/60s, f/11, ISO 200

Location: The Clay Cliffs, Omarana, New Zealand

Near Omarana is the Clay Cliffs, a sandy dusty environment with unusual towering, stark formations. The dusty, rusted donation box and entry gate hinted at the features of the landscape beyond. Though harsh, this location is strangely evocative and well worth the visit.

I used a circular polarizer to saturate color and accentuate the features of the lone cloud, and a neutral density graduate to hold back the exposure in the sky.
