For a short period of time I had the pleasure of using Canon's old FD
line of manual-focus lenses and SLRs, including the A-1 and F-1N.
Coming from modern plastic consumer cameras, the old equipment of the
past had a feel of quality about them which really intrigued me.
This photo was made using three simple light sources; a fluorescent
lamp hanging overhead, a small torch to the left of the camera, and an
even smaller torch was used to 'paint' in the shadows towards the right
side of the scene.
As the intention was to simulate an advertisement for the F-1N and its
lenses, I also used a cross-screen filter (which was in vogue during
the 1980s) which turned some of the highlights in the image into
four-pointed stars.
